First, what year is your XJ? This will determine which size you need. Secondly, you should be able to physically see a broken U-joint if you look at it. My personal opinion: Don't go with a greaseable joint unless it's a trail-only rig.

Does your gauge read 1/2? I found that my 98 XJ's gauge was near empty when it displayed 1/4. How many gallons go in when you fill it up at "1/2?"

Not necessarily true. I replaced the fuel pump on my previous 98 XJ, and when it got down to about 1 gallon of gas, it would still do this. The pump sits in the middle of the tank, and the filter sits at the very bottom of the tank. When you turn hard enough (or have enough body-roll, which was...

Definitely an easy task. Just shave that lip up the cover and you should be good to go. Anyone know why it has excess metal right after the cover?
