Hard to start, yes... I searched.

Thanks for the replys! I guess mine isn't too far from normal then. It takes about 6-7 revs usually before it fires up. I have a thorough tune up, new batt, valve cover gasket, etc. in the works. It will be a couple weeks before I really get time to tear into it though.

    factory gearing

Well. I am a newb, but if the 70mph at slightly under 2k rpm with 31's is accurate, (I am guessing the tranny ratio in OD is around .72) I would say your gearing is around 3.08. if the OD ratio is .75 it could be 3.55 rear gears. If you can tell me what rpm it is running at a given speed in...

Hard to start, yes... I searched.

Hello! Here is a relatively minor, but annoying problem with my 89 4.0L Xj. It takes way to long cranking before firing up. It starts every time, but I can see this making the difference between driving it home some night with a marginal battery, and standing around begging for a jump start...

A Jeep, and Naxja new introduces himself.

Thanks, again. Most people are way to serious. I have had more fun out of that old wagon, than is probably legal. Right now, I have less than $700 in it grand total. To me, it is worth that just for beating around town on the weekend. I do plan on modding the Jeep a bit, but I have to...

A Jeep, and Naxja new introduces himself.

Thanks for the welcome! I looked at the air filter box the other day and didn’t see any oil in it. I suspect the leak is coming from a sloppy looking gasket goop job on the valve cover and or a bad grommet on the valve cover, but I haven’t had time to investigate it yet. Thanks! The low...

A Jeep, and Naxja new introduces himself.

Hello everyone! I have been an automotive enthusiast (AKA car nut) for years, but I just purchased my first Jeep this past weekend. I have been interested in them for quite a while but for some reason or other I never got one. Until now, all my mild off roading, was done in a jacked up 89 Crown...
