will an ax-15 out of a 91 wrangler fit a 97 wrangler if the motors are both the 4.0?

i see what you mean. i should have been clearer, i was talking about the stock internal slave setup on an xj. sorry.

i'm talking about on an 88 xj. they are three different peices: master, slave, and hydraulic connection line.

I just realized that on 97+ vehicles, and maybe others, the AX-15 trannys had a mechanical fork release design. On my 88 XJ, it is hydraulic. I was wondering if anyone had ever changed the hydraulic system over to a mechanical one. If so, what all was involved? I am having a hell of a time with...

I have an AX-15 out of a 91 YJ. Rebuilt 10k ago, along with the t-case which is the 231. Includes shifter. In NE Tenn. $500.

oops. i got another one. when i am bleeding the line, do i need to be replacing the cylinder lid between pumps or just make sure that the fluid level doesn't drop too low. can taking off and putting back on the lid cause any air to get into the lines? thanks again.
