Except when the pinion bearing blows up (which happened to me and I have heard of before) or the carrier bearings spin.

You can just drain the diff into a bucket and re-use the fluid, I usually run it through some cheesecloth to remove anything that might have fallen into it....I know, I hate cracking the diff, which is why I usually try to think of everything i need to do while it is open...

Does one need a membership to attend these? I will be out of town on the 18th, but would like to attend future ones...too bad though, my D30 would have been a perfect specimen and I would have loved to learn this stuff.

I agree with you, especially after the 8.25 I swapped in had the pinion bearing toast itself, which then chunked out the spiders (actually, I don't knwo what happened first but the smoke from the pinion and spitting lube makes me thing the bearing sh!t itself then ate the spiders)...but, I have...

Depends on region, axles can be pretty expensive in CO, CA, and the tri-state area from what I hear but you can get axles really cheap at Harry's U-Pull it, I think it is in PA or NJ. I paid $150 for the one I had, although it only lasted a year.

x2 DT3000's are the worst shocks out there, the cheapest ones that Checker auto had rode better than them.

Um, maybe its just me but why did you pull the carrier? I had to grind out my backing plate to fit on my 8.25...maybe yours had less rust than others?

Not sure if you are set on DT shocks, but from personal experience, I ran DT3000's on my jeep, they rode terribly. I replaced the rears when I got an axle with raised shock mounts, and bought the cheapest stock length shocks that Checker had, they rode 100x better than the DT's...I still have...

the install instructions for that leaf pack specify that you have to drill out the perch to 3/8" to fit the larger center pin....I had to refer back today b/c I am doing an axle swap.

You should be able to get a master key at any bike shop/ski shop that sells yakima racks, my bike shop that I worked at always had a ton hanging around from installs and such. The only problem is that you can only get the lock cylinders out with the master if the lock is in a particular...

wow there is a ton of bad info in this thread....search, the differences have been posted a million times, specifically JeepinJason on this board, JeepsUnlimited, and Jeepin.com had explained this.

I don't see you getting in any skiing before Nov. 18th....I have been the weekend before Thanksgiving before, but thats it. Some resorts *may* be open the weekend before that...

My Aj's ones have 5 or 6, I can't remember.
