i had the same problem in my 96 XJ. I found the little right-angle black hose and pulled it off. As soon as i did a stream of water drained out onto the driveway - what a great sound!
I looked in one end of the hose and saw it was plugghed with something...
i blew it out with comp...
While doing some maintenance under my jeep this winter - I noticed some cracks on the inlet tube of my Borla muffler.
I have borla header, B-pipe and cat-back - all from approx 5 years and maybe 30k miles ago.
I called Borla and spoke to Tim Y in warranty dept. Even though I never filled out...
Amongst a lot of other thing I am an ABYC certified Electrical Marine technican.
I have done a tremendous amount of marine and automotive electrical installations/re-wiring. I don't know how you can say soldering is EASIER than crimping.
FWIW, it is against ABYC marine electrical code to soler...
what kind of oil are you using?
any brakes hanging up?
75mph is fast for an XJ. All else equal - I bet you would get 18-19 mpg if you cruised at 60-65.
Are all of your wheel bearings in good shape?
how are your ignition wires? cap and rotor?
check for a vacuum leak.

I'm in the same boat as you. 33's and 5.5 and very few places to go.
I've got a permit to wheel on the beach, but its very restricted access. Its fun, but its just sand.
There were a few trials out near Calverton, in a private area, but I seem to remeber being able to get in and wheel there...
might need a new wiper control module.

its a small black box under the dash. I believe it has like a felt/velcro on one side where it attahches up under the dash

it was one of the best gateways you could get in 2002 IIRC.
for around $100 I am going to throw a new 300 GIG HD in and reinstall windiows and be done with it I think.
