It actually is composed of two parts....The ignition module in which has the connectors and the coil which can be removed and either part can be either good or bad.

I have an 88 also....years ago my problem was the Ignition Control module. Something you might check.I didn't see that listed in your searching...but I coulda missed it.

No...I don't need picts now. When I went to the Tomken site they didn't have a picture. I did the google thing and found pictures there. Do they bolt to the pinch seam? When are you coming thru Waco?
