    Jeep Front end alignment

I agree it's cheap preventative maintenance. Look into the various techniques involving using a bolt and the hydraulic power steering to pop off thos unit bearings. I used an impact hammer on the back of the bolts which hold the bearing on but I do not recommend this technique unless you know...

    Jeep Front end alignment

IIRC the only thing you can change easily on a sold axle vehicle is the toe in / toe out which is adjusted via the big threaded rod connecting your two wheels. This gets out of whack when you lift a vehicle and will need adjustment. I did mine with a tape measure and set my toe in at just a...

    Jeep Front end alignment

It turned out to be a bearing in the front end going out. I replaced both but the one side that was wearing out tires was noticeably rougher when you spun it in your hand. The nois has now gone away.

    Hot Start Problem

Way to go on this guys. I see alot of problems talked about but very few posts get updated when they figure out the problem. Is this the temp sensor on the front of the engine near the thermostat? I believe the one on the rear of the engine is for the gauge only. I've got an OBD II reader...

    Hot Start Problem

That's an interesting diagnosis. I have the same problem with my 1996 which has 1997 parts on it (it was a change over year). I've got to stomp it to the floor sometimes when it is hot and she will fire right up. It's wierd. I'm running 5.0 mustang injectors so I'm doubtful that injectors...

Mode $06 ? any techs out there

I'm looking for some definitions of the TID's and CID's for my 1996 Jeep. I have a scan tool that reads these tests and gives me the values but I do not have anything that I can use to decifer what the unit is testing. I have found very little information on Mode 06 data and definitions.

    cps diagnose

If it is a 4.0 I would assume so yes. I believe spec is 49 psi +/- 5 psi

    cps diagnose

Monitor your fuel pressure when this happens it should be around 50 PSI constant. After that monitor your spark and see how it is shutting the engine down. Check your cam position sensor in your distributor. I thought I remembered hearing something about if that sensor does not get a proper...

hard starting after driving jeep for a bit

Try stepping on the gas when this happens while you are cranking it. Mine did the same thing. I have found that after pulling the throttle body disassembling and scrubbing everything out and reassembling that the problem went away. Some have said that it is a throttle position sensor. I...

    cps diagnose

If you really want to clean it you will need some metric wrenches and some torx bits to totally remove everything. I scrubbed mine out with a toothbrush and some throttle body cleaner and then wiped it off and then used a 3M scotch brite pad (plastic pad not metal). Blow it all off with...

    cps diagnose

I kinda figured he was right but I thought maybe somone could verify his method. It's hard enought chasing this misfire down without the parts guys giving me the wrong stuff.

    cps diagnose

Are you sure about that test procedure? I bought a CPS for my 1996 and I tested the old one and got an open reading across two of the terminals but when I tested the new one I got continuity and some resistance across any and every combination of terminals I could create. I'm not saying you...

Exhaust manifold leak and still misfiring

Still chasing this multiple misfire deal. We had inconclusive results with the leakdown test which will be performed again this weekend under more controlled conditions. The CAT was removed only to find that it looked clean and un plugged (you could see light through the mesh inside) and very...

    Still multiple misfire

Just found some info on carbon deposits on the exhaust valves causing the valves to not close completely and therefore causing multiple misfires. Not too sure how common this is but I think I see a can of seafoam and alot of smoke in my future.
