Thread of Brake Pads and Rotors to Achieve Best Stopping Power

Well put. Thanks for dumbing it down. I can relate to both. In addition to my 1998 XJ with the WJ conversion, I also have a 400HP+ LT4 equipped 1995 Z28. I upgraded brakes twice before being satisfied with C5 brakes.

    231 Transfercase differences

Thanks for the replies. I ordered a used NP231 from a 1999 XJ. I plan to install a JB Conversions SYE.

    231 Transfercase differences

Correct, my 1998 XJ 231 has the lip seal sealing on the tailshaft and my son's 1995 XJ 231 has the lip seal sealing on the slip yoke. What is different about the 1996 231 transfercase versus the 1997 & newer units for the same 4.0L six cylinder / AX15 manual transmission application? Could it...

    231 Transfercase differences

I'm hoping someone can tell me the difference between a 1996 six cylinder 231 transfercase and a 1997-2001 six cylinder 231 transfercase. I thought they were the same, but www.car-part.com has the 1996 231 six cylinder transfercase listed separately from the 1997 newer and 1995 older units. I...

XJ to WJ Steering Wheel & Tire Option

The purpose of this post is to share information. Factory 15" wheels will NOT fit my XJ with WJ brakes/steering due to the OEM backspacing. To my knowledge, they won't fit with Akebono calipers without grinding the calipers. I don't think you can purchase a set of 4 aftermarket wheels for...

XJ to WJ Steering Wheel & Tire Option

I posted this on jeepsunlimited, also. I'm installing the WJ steering & brakes with flipped TRE's on my 1998 XJ. After much research I have found a reasonably priced 17" wheel & tire option that is suited for this conversion. I've also learned that 16" Jeep Liberty steel wheels will work for...

Who has the highest Miles on an OEM 4.0L...no head/cylinder work.

1995 4.0L / AX15 - 276K miles. No engine or tranny work. It even has the original clutch. Everything works. I've spent ~$1900 on maintenance since new. This jeep has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned; including Nissans & Toyotas.

    rebuild front wheel bearing hub?

XJsurf I'd like to purchase your old bearing. I'm converting my 1998 XJ to WJ steering and brakes. I want an old unit bearing that I can press apart to use as a jig for drilling the WJ rotors for the XJ bolt pattern. I can send a prepaid FedEx ground shipping label and a few bucks for your...

    t-case drop (help)

I used a 10" pipewrench on the studs. They came loose without a problem. A pipewrench with a good set of jaws will bite deeper than a vise-grip. Mike
