Important

I hate the parts guy who just has to tell you what you need.

If I want to change brake pads, sell me brake pads. I don't need the speech about what you think I need.

I do my shopping online, print out the cart then take it to the store. That way I get what I want and I don't have to spend 10 minutes telling them I have a '96 Jeep Cherokee Sport with a 4.0l six cylinder engine, automatic transmission and 4wd so that the guy can look up the part number for a headlight.
I am not a PARTS GUY, I am a ASE master certified mechanic working at a nathional frachized shop, if I tell you, you need rotors, it because you need them. I don't try to sell you shet you don't need. I'm not on commision. I sell what you need to make you vehichle safe to drive.

I am frying up some sausage...wearing my shirt that states "Bacon makes it better"....I feel like a traitor....

You'd be the first mechanic's shop I ever met that wasn't out to make an extra buck.

I'm not questioning your character, I'm just telling you how it is. You're not making commission, but your parts guy is and everyone in the room is working together to make money.

Good on you for being an honest mech. You're the minority.

I take pride in my job, I tell customers what needs to be fixed, and what needs to be fixed NOW. If someone doesn't have money to make their car safe, we work with them.

Back home again...... left home at 1:40 AM on Friday morning, stopped in Rockford to pick up steel for the brew sculpture (Thanks, Lar!,) had to get online with the office for a couple of hours, then headed up to the farm in MI to help my brother finish planting 2,000 cherry trees. Left the farm at 1:30 PM Michigan time on Saturday to head back through da YooPee, got home a little after midnight. Worst part of the trip were the drunks around St. Paul.

Anyway, just over 1,400 miles in 46 hours.

yes.

your clutch foot/leg gets tired.
you piss and moan about needing a third leg.
you start to smell burning clutch.
you start dumping it instead of letting it slip.
you fear your going to break something due to excessive wheel spin.
you recall last time out, you hypothesized about $20 worth of bike parts for a hand throttle.
you realize... "im the only one with a stick even out here. badass."
(that last one may not be true at big events like WF)

i wouldnt have it any other way.

My hand gets tired shifting from D to 1-2..........:D
