NP435 and 205 swap?

OK, in my search to gain a fixed output for less than or equivilant ( as long as I gain a stronger unit) to the cost of an sye, I realized that I have an np435 and 205 on the donor truck I got my axles from. My questions are, would you recomend the "granny" np435 swap for a dd? What gears would be ideal for 36's? What bellhousings can I use to bolt it up, I have heard anything from specific years cj to any older AMC I6 but nothing really credible. And any thing else relevent. TIA

i just ran the numbers, and if you used 4.10s, 36s, no OverDrive the numbers would be nearly identical as people running 5.13s, 35s, .75 OD.

If you keep it under 70 I would get 4.56, if you tend to go faster I'd go with 4.10 (or 4.30)

Thats promising since 4.10's are junkyard finds. That 6.68 first gear should make up for the 205's reduction gearing.

your crawl ratio will be just a little better than an AX15, stock ratio 231, 4.56 diffs. about 52:1

you may want to look into a doubler setup

yeah a 203 is definately on the list. Now if I could just find a bell housing it will bolt up with.
