Anyone got a garage?

Anyone got a garage somewhere in the Dallas area i can borrow for a few hours between Thursday and Sunday? I'll buy the beer! I'm putting in a bastard pack (which will probably take the longest time due to disassembling the leafs), AAL, coil spacers, and ZJ springs. I haven't messed with a lift on an XJ in 10+ years, so a little knowledgeable assistance would be greatly appreciated as well! Thanks in advance guys.

BTW, i'm off all day thursday and friday, and get off at 8 AM saturday and sunday. other than that, the only thing i have planned those days is dinner with the Fam for my dad's birthday on Sunday.

I'd offer my space to you if I had any available....sorry.

The leafs should come apart quickly. C-Clamp them....cut off the clips....remove the center pin...SLOWLY release the C-Clamp...and you're done.

My entire budget boost took me 6 hours with just hand tools (and my dremel). That's including time spent cutting the the Dakota springs to fit with my dremel tool.

Getting the larger coils and spacers in without the right tools was possibly the hardest part. Well, aside from getting the axle to re-align. That was a drag. Until I figured out how to do it with ratchet straps going around the axle and tow hooks.

I was all proud of myself. I got ready to post up about it....then I realized that is how many people do it. I wish I had done a search first. LOL!

Deedeedee!

I don't have a garage, so :P

You do not need a garage do do that. Sure it would be nicer but most of us do without. Shoot I did my lift at my old apartment complex, in my parking spot. There really isn't that much that cannot be done outside.

Does it have to be THIS weekend time wise. If you post up a wrench-a-thon I sure people will come out or if you cannot do it at your house see if someone else in the area will for ya.

What are you looking to get out of the bastard pack. With the full pack minus the overload from a Dakota and my main leaf I got 4.5". Do you have the other stuff that is really need to go that high.

short list if that is your goal height from the top of my head
-adjustable track bar
-longer brake hoses (front and rear)
-longer e-brake lines
-adjustable upper or lower control arms(both would be optimal)
-new longer shocks
-possible t/c drop may be needed or better a sye
-this is more but these are all that I can think of this a.m.

tools
-obvious hand tool (sockets, wrenches, etc)
-coil spring compressor
-a couple good c-clamps to help do the bastard packs.
-of coarse good solid jack
-jack stand, the larger size

thats all I can think of at the moment

oh if you haven't already. Start PB Blasting everything now. That way it has time to soak in. Do this everyday till it is time to do the lift.

Merlin-I was expecting only 3", its an extra XJ pack, plus a short AAL...(scott, chime in here if you can, since i got the parts from you)..PLEASE correct me if im wrong and it will be more than that so i can postpone it and get everything else ready for it too. It does not absolutely HAVE to be this weekend, but, as I'm sure yall have the same issue, it sucks to have parts laying around and not installing them!

I would not have a problem doing it in my complex, except for the fact that i live in a HOA-operated condo complex, have already been yelled at for working on it in the lot, and my mother is the president of the HOA (unfortunately, moved back in a few months ago when i was unemployed, so yes, i live with my mother). Also, my spot is on an incline, and a pretty steep one at that.

I will start PB blasting everything today, thanks for the tip!

Any other comments, suggestions, or offers?

I wouldnt mind helping. I'm normally off Tuesdays and Thursdays., but work all weekend. Youre more than welcome to do it at my apartment, under my covered parking, but thats as close as I have to a garage :(.

He is only going up 3 inches so brake lines track bar aren't needed the pack he is using to do the bastard pack is stock xj leafs that will give you three inches when combined with the stock pack from his kit the aal I gave him isn't really needed unless the bastard pack isn't tall enouph shocks may be the only issue

Axle degree shims would be a good idea too. I am at 4.5" w/o a SYE, I had some vibes. I put in a 4* shim and no vibes.

And trust me, I know what its like to have parts laying around and not being able to install them. I have had my long arms for 4 months now... but I am doing all my upgrades at once.

I know that you haven't forgotten Midian, you and I have NP207's which has a different tail from the newer XJ's, so what applies to us does not necessarily apply to them.

At 6" I don't get any vibes at 55. My XJ won't go any faster, so I don't know about after that. LOL!

What about at 12"?

Yeah, but is it really that much diffrent? Everything I have found says the 207 and 231 are almost exactly the same on the outside. But you could be right, two things I don't know how to work on, then it comes to XJs, are the 231s and 4.0s.

i appreciate all the heads-ups guys. PB is soaking in right now. My buddy jason offered to let me use his place in Plano tonight at 6. Anyone here is welcome to join, just send me a PM and i'll get you directions. Thanks again everyone!
