Good way to cut glass bottles?

A friend and I are wanting to mess around with reusing old glass bottles and would like to cut them in various ways. I was thinking a diamond disc on an angle grinder but have been told thats a bad idea to cut dry. Is a wetsaw really the best way?

Hole saws are an option but I'd like to cut some bottles in half maybe or large sections out of the side of say a jack daniels bottle.

Any asvice appreciated.

Should have mentioned the fire and ice methods wont work for what I want to do. Jack bottles are square and I'd also like to cut in half vertically or just a panel off the side.
