My poor lemon is a 1995 XJ 4.0 Automatic, and it idles like it has indigestion. While the engine is running, it feels like it "bumps" of stumbles a little inconsistently and shakes the cabin a whole bunch...
I had a mechanic friend come out to take a look. Turns out my head gasket blew on cylinder one and it was just launching unburned gas down the pipe. Fun stuff.

I just replaced mine after I found two bolts with their heads broken off and one of them stripped out.
They're a 9/16 head. If you look down and don't see any suspiciously missing you're probably fine. I've heard you can check for a gap between the bolts and the bracket or between the bracket...
