Exactly. I should have been more clear. With no HAZ and the way the weld sits, combine with no evidence of undercutting, I'd say the weld wasn't hot enough. Just saying that when I was learning, I'd either have too much amperage and undercut or I'd run it too low and not get the penetration...

If I may revive this old thread, 5-90, what would the oiling characteristics be of these lifters in their failed conditions? As in, if I were to have the engine running and the valve cover off, would a failed lifter still be pumping oil to the top? How would you identify the failed lifter...
