I've been playing around with my stroker trying to get the optimum performance and was curious as to your opinions on an idea. I'm running the renix based style stroker with injectors that flow 22.7# at 39 psi. I have a MAP adjuster but haven't had to use it. I'm only using the plug colour to...
I just finished putting rear discs on my XJ using pre-1991 front calipers and front rotors. I also put a dual diaphragm booster in from a 1996 ZJ and was planning on swapping the ZJ proportioning valve in as well.
However! Upon closer inspection my old 88 XJ prop valve and the 1996 ZJ prop...
The lower bearing in the steering column of my 88 XJ has a lot of play in it. It is the GM style tilt column.
Has anyone ever changed this?
I have limited time to change it so I'm looking for info on how hard the bearing was to remove...any special tools required? Was the bearing a typical...

I've been trying to diagnose an intermittent high idle that occurs occasionally when warm. The odd time when I stop driving my idle sticks at 1100 rpm instead of the usual 750. If I put the truck in gear, apply the break, and release the clutch just enough to drop the engine rpm to about 500 and...
I've noticed on my stoker motor that it seems to have more power when the oil is cool. The reason I'm thinking this is because at startup when the engine is cool it has great power...once the engine is warm i.e. in about 10 minutes, it still has great power but at this time the oil pressure is...

After driving 15min or so when the jeep comes up to temp if I turn it off it won't start. It runs fine before I turn it off. When it won't start I checked for spark and there is none. If I leave it for 20-30 min it will start back up no...
I'm having some starting problems with the truck warm. I'm figuring it's either the ignition control module or the cps. I put in a spare ICM with no change. The cps I have reads 225 ohms resistance, about the same as another used spare I have.
My question is this....can a cps be faulty while...
I'm runing a non-HO 4.0L and my ICM is starting to give me troubles. I've had a jacobs ignition for a long while but it piggy backs the stock ignition system. A new ICM is about $200 so I'd like to try and bypass it so the Jacob's system is being fired directly off the computer.
Has anyone...
From what I've seen mos use stock spec lifters even when using valve springs with a greater spring rate. When does excessive bleed down become a problem with the stock lifters? Are they good enough for all applications?
Thanks
Hey all.
Just trying to tune in my new stroker motor but the problem is I'm not familiar with the sound of pre-ignition. I've heard the ol' "marbles in a tin can" thing but that pretty much sounds like a flowmaster muffler drone to me. I happen to have a 40 series flowmaster as well so over the...
Will a MAP adjuster adjust the fuel delivery during part throttle applications as well at WOT? If it does adjust during part throttle doesn't this throw off the 02 sensor readings causing the ECU to adjust it back to normal?
I just finished a stroke motor but have noticed the valve train is quite a bit louder than stock.

Hey,
I've noticed my new stroker has a valve train noise that is louder than stock. I was attributing it to the higher compression, larger lift, stiffer valve springs etc but some I talked to say theirs sounds quite like a new stock 4.0L.
Mine seems to be quite at first startup when the oil...
So far about 600 miles on it so I'm still in the "break-in" period. I setup happens to be quite similar to Dino's "DR. DYNO" on this forum, minus a few items.

My XJ has a Delco style CS130 alternator with the PLFS terminals plus the alternator output post.
EVERY article I read on the net speaks of running a resisted power lead to the "L" terminal and sometimes running the S to the output. My stock wiring harness gives no voltage to the "L" terminal...
Like most I've finished a stroker build on a NON-HO 4.0L. I have accell 24 lb injectors and an adjustable MAP. I want to be completly sure that my engine isn't running lean at any times as I don't want to cook my nice new motor :D
Anyway, is there any cheap way of measuring A/F ratios or is it...
After looking at a 4.2L in my garage I noticed it takes the same oil filter as the 4.0L but it is pointed downwards as opposed to the 4.0L's which points up. Turns out the 4.0L has an extra adapter to point the filter up.
Any ideas why they made this change?
Has anyone ran the 4.2L style on a...
If a lifter is leaking or clogged it makes a ticking noise. I'm assuming this is from a lack of oil pressure under the lifter plunger and the plunger either bottoms out on the bottom making a "tick" or it comes down a bit and then makes a "tick" when it smacks back up into position...or both. If...
