i think the bottom pieces were 1/4" x 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" and the top pieces were 1/4" x 1" x 3 1/2".... then again these are jk axles so double check those measurments :greensmok
and yet another bored out of my tree project... noticed some trail rash on the control arm mounts so i skidded then
a couple pieces of 1/4" welded onto them solved that problem!!
I have no complaints about the RC kit... It's one of the only long arm kits tha includes the t case skid.. The welds are good, haven't had any issues with the joints, all in all I'm happy with it too!!
I started by drilling a couple holes to move the entire skid up a half inch... by doing this i had to cut the frame mount tab and relocate it.. then i cut out the drop to see just how much room i had... ended up cutting out more a little later. then i made some relief cuts in the corners and...
being that i was a little bored today and looking for something to do, i thought it might be a good time to do something about the transfer case skid that was hanging really low off the belly of my rig.. im not sure why RC did this but i had almost 2" clearance betwwen the skid and the t case...
im gonna drive it around today and see how she feels on the road and if i get a chance im gonna go flex her out... heres a few shots of the other work i did...
after a long days work i finally got the BPE welded in, shackle boxes installed and the bumpstop plates installed.... i took a few measurements along the way.. so heres what i came up with...
so i measured from the brake drum to the fender with the axle hanging on its own weight.. no wheels...
tomorrow ill be installing the shackle mounts and the leafspring plates.. also ill be welding in barpin eliminators in the rear cause my bolts rusted to $#!T... more pics tomorow!
and while i was watching paint dry... i mean waiting for the parts.... i made these leaf spring plates with bumpstop extensions. used 1/2 inch for these and drilled a extra hole so i can move the axle back an inch at a later date.
so as mentioned i had a few things i wanted to get done so today i had at er... first up was relocating the shackle mounts for better suspension geometry... im in no way shape or form gonna take any credit for this mod as i got the idea from ERICSXJ.COM... thanks eric!! the only thing i did a...
for sure!! always looking for new people to wheel with!! im always on BCJC and we usually post future trip there.. but ill get in touch with ys the next trip we plan :greensmok
so its been awhile since i have posted but this does not mean that i have been slackin off!! so far im very happy with my build and had it out a half dozen times wheelin some local trails here in Vancouver BC.. trucks running great since i had the head done and hasent caused me reason to believe...
got some head!! this thing was a mess when i took it off the truck!! had a check engine light come on and after a scan it revealed to me that there was a miss fire on two cylinders... did some trouble shooting with help from a good buddy.. decided to rebuild the head and clean up the pistons...
so i was looking at the front end of my truck and realized that i forgot to mention something in this thread.... steering stablizer!! the factory jk shock and tie rod mount works great!! just flip the mount to the top side of the tie rod... that will be all :canada:
