    Autolite Plug destroyed engine

Yes, I apologize for the confusion. My point was just that I have seen two really wild failures in the same brand. The first one wasn't really any big deal (top three thumbs), the second was catastrophic. I had only heard of that happening one other time, and that was in 1986.

    Autolite Plug destroyed engine

yes it's blurry, the point was the scoring of the exhaust valve, not the plug

these are two different cases, the top three pics are a Pontiac Grand Am, the bottom 7 are a Ford the pics are clickable thumbs that should go to photo bucket for a larger view with some additional text for each picture I have no idea why any "malware" would be related to that Yes, I am new...

    Autolite Plug destroyed engine

Pontiac Last summer I saw an Autolite plug that failed in a 1993 Pontiac Grand Am, 3.3L I saved the pieces when I replaced it for a conversation piece. I had considered this a one in a million failure, I do not know the age or mileage of the plug. The engine did not show any loss of...

    Old Cherokee

you know something about this tough old dog makes me want to do a restoration, not cut it up and modify it, the thing is, every piece is there (except the original 401) I don't mean a trailer car or something silly, but a nice solid runner with proper colors, correct pieces and proper repairs...

    Old Cherokee

All good info, thanks AL. Here's some cell pics, that aren't great, but I like this old warrior and I took a minute to warm it up and drive it around a bit. When I pulled it back up I double checked the timing and it was purring like a kitten. I have never seen any engine sit so motionless...

    Old Cherokee

Right on, thanks guys. Was reading more last night, realized it's the 1977 Cherokee 'S' Wide Track with the 'Razor Grill'. I definitely dig those straight body lines. It'll be kind of nice to work with points again, ha ha. Have to blow the dust off my 'dwell meter'. Had it running...

    cheap engine oil

Nothing about NAPA is cheap. I'd say having clean oil is more important especially if you've had to push it longer and longer without a change.

    Old Cherokee

Recently came into a '77 Cherokee Quadratrac, 360... I kind of like it. It's all steel and kind of cool the way it's fairly simple. The rear window works and it runs okay. It won't be doing anything more serious than heavy snow and should hold up fine. The body has no dents, the paint's...

    Heat blowing warm not hot..

oh jeez, well get that all sorted out before you dive into the core - it's not much fun to change

    Heat blowing warm not hot..

if the temperature slider is moving the cable, and the cable is moving the door that allows air to bypass the core is functioning correctly, then it could still be the core is clogged see my other post with the link in this thread for pics of my core, that was about 50-60% clogged after...
