    97 XJ rough idle/ CEL ... help!

I've endlessly searched the web and this forum to try and diagnose my issue -- 97 XJ 4.0L AW4 2WD 73K…I’m completely stumped on my CEL/ rough chugging idle (most noticeably when cold, but always comes back when at operating temperature). Didn’t do this before as I drove it for about 2000 miles...

    2000 xj running lights issue

My running lights no longer come on. At first it was briefly an intermittent issue, now completely out. I've checked interior/ under hood fuses and they are good. Replaced headlight switch and still not working. Have done endless Internet forum searches with no luck. And one else experience...

    Ax-15 trans input shaft grease?

Did a search on the web, etc. Wanted to see what kind of grease to use for the Ax-15 input shaft? High-temp grease? Looks like something else was used previously. Advice?

    97+ TJ AX-15 in 91 XJ

I did a number of searches on this topic on this site and several other Jeep forums. I'm trying to understand if I can use a TJ AX-15 with my 91 XJ 4.0L. I understand the transfer case clocking issue will need to be addressed, but...can I use my '91 XJ 231 case or do I need to source a newer...

Wiring to 242/ 231 transfer case?

I noticed '93 and up XJ's have a different connector/ more wires at the firewall connector going back to the transfer case than the 91/92 XJ model year. Any idea if the wiring differences are "superficial"...meaning: Can a '93+ transfer case work in a '91 XJ without issue? Guessing the speed...

    231 Transfer Case Differences...

I've got a 91 4.0L XJ 5-spd and need to replace my 231 transfer case...Any reason why a newer XJ ('95-'96) case wouldn't be an identical bolt up? I know the speed sensor plug is different, but I'd assume I can swap out that assembly and use the longer ('91-style)speedo gear with the newer case...

    Sudden 01 XJ electrical gremlin

My 01 XJ 4.0L AW4 132K mi while driving today with the AC on kept cutting out as the AC cycled. By cutting out I mean - the radio/ overhead console lights/sound turned off for a split second and the engine choked, but it never died. Never had an issue like this with any of my Jeeps, so I don't...

    91-94 XJ 5-speed w/ cruise control?

I've got a Mopar cruise control kit I'm looking to install on my 91 4.0L 5-spd MJ...There is no provision in the kit for the clutch pedal speed control trigger (turning off cruise when the clutch is depressed). I've looked in the factory parts manuals and can't find anything for the clutch...

91-96 XJ OEM power windows & door locks

I'm trying to figure out when the factory power windows and door locks are supposed to work. Obviously when the car is running...But are they also supposed to work with the key in the Forward (but not started) position and the key turned back (toward the driver) position? Thanks

    AX15 & NP231

I've searched and read many posts relating to my topic, but none really answered my question. I have an 89 Renix MJ that I am swapping over to HO. Found junkyard HO MJ engine and interior wiring harness. My 89 has the AX15/ 231 combo. From my research online and in the Jeep parts...

Renix to HO -- D30 swap needed?

I'm swaping all my 89 Renix wiring, etc from my truck and installing all '91 HO wiring. I have a new NP231 transfer case for the electric vs vacuum 4wd engagement, but my question is do I need to swap to the '91 D30 vac disco axle to get everything to engage properly? I wouldn't think so, just...

    89 Renix AX-15 with 91 HO engine/ electric

Trying to figure out if my Renix era AX-15 will bolt up to and work with HO engine/electric. The transfer case & axle I am replacing with a 91+. Anyone done this swap keeping the older AX-15?

91 XJ for 95 XJ r134 AC swap

Not sure if anyone has done this, but I have a non-AC 91 XJ that I want to install AC in. Any reason I couldn't swap all the AC parts over from a 95 r134 XJ (don't want R12). I don't think the AC components would have any issues with -- or would even notice -- an older PCM? Advice would be...

    XJ Dana 44's available

Not sure where to post this since I am not selling the items. This is just an FYI post for Nor Cal junkyard go-ers... There's a blue 87 Chief at Tully Rd. Pick N Pull in SJ and Red 87 Chief at the Moss Landing location with D44's. Hate to see these axles get scrapped. I just scored a d44...

    95/96 XJ FSM Wiring help

Can someone with a 95 or 96 XJ FSM take a peek at the wiring colors and their associated connections for the factory overhead console. I know there are postings on overhead console wiring to "search", but there all with pre-92 consoles. The help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Power steering fluid question...

My 89 MJ runs red power steering fluid...this weekend I will be installing a 2001 XJ steering box. I know the 01 XJ's run clear fluid, what should I run once the new box is installed? Is the type of fluid more important for the pump or the box? Please let me know. Thanks!

    Steering pump question

What's the average life for a 89 MJ power steering pump? I'm installing new hoses and steering box and am wondering if at 112,000 miles I should swap out the pump while I'm in there.

2000 steering pump, hoses & box on 89 MJ?

Did a search and I know the steering box itself is a direct bolton for the 87-90 XJ/MJ's, but I was wondering if the steering pump is as well. Since I am upgrading the box to a 2000 XJ unit, I was thinking I'd upgrade the hoses and pump from the same 2000 XJ model. Would all of this be a direct...

87-90 XJ owners...what is this connection?

Under the dashboard drivers side there's a small three plug connection. The wiring comes out of the loom just beside the ECU and connects to wires that go to the brake pedal for the cruise control release (when brake is depressed). Wire colors are black with yellow tracer, light blue and...
