When I bought my 90 xj the previous owner had revbuilt the engine as a stroker
and installed a 2nd fan which was powered by the battery and turned on and off with the ingnition switch.
For some reason it stopped working yesterday. The fan works fine when connected directly to the battery...
I just installed new rear leaf springs, and I think I am detecting vibration when accelerating at low speed.
I have an extended shackle,
could shims help,
I can't figure out how putting a shim on the lef pack which is above the axel would would improve the driveshaft angle--it looks tome...
TPS got wet from leaks in hood vents. My xj auto trans won't shift out of first till about 4500 rpm, and shifts erratically.
Assuming its the TPS can I do anything to fix it, dry it, whatever, or do I need to replace. Last time this happened it spontaniously fixed itself after 6 weeks or so...
My 90 xj won't shift out of first. Was fine when I parked it. It rained a lot and now can't shift out of first. Had problem before. Was told it was wet throttle position sensor. Eventually it dried out and worked.
I don't want to wait weeks for it to dry out. Where is the darn thing. And...
I am about to replace my rear leafs on a lifted xj. Do I need to jack up both sides and the pumpkin, or can I just jack up one side, take off the wheel, replace the spring on that side, then lower that side and jack up the other side and do the same thing.
I am going to use wood boards flat...
Ok here's a basic question about leaf springs. When the spring changes shape
the top leaf has to get longer when it flattens out --doesn't it?. The other leafs just slide, when they get flatter, but the top leaf is bolted in. Where does the extra length on the top leaf go?.
I just got leafs for my 90 xj with 31 inch tires, to replace my worn budget boost springs. The replacement leaf leaf system is a modified leaf system with an xj main leaf and 3 leafs from an s-10, plus the flat overload leaf.
Question is should I keep the flat overload leaf or take it off...
what angle shims do I need for 4 1/2 " lift (3" leafs and 1/12 from shackles)
I am replacing my budget lift (bought it that way) with 3' S-10 leafs on a
stock main leaf, and keeping my 3" shackles. This should give me 4 1/2 inch lift in the rear on my 90 xj.
What angle shims do I need, and...
My rear leafs are shot. I can get 3.5 inch RE for $250 for the pair or 4 inch Rough country leafs for $200 for the pair. .
Any advantage of Rough Country vs. RE or vice versa. Are they both good products.
I have 6 inch shackles which I figure give me 1 1/2 inch additional lift over stock...
I need to install new springs to replace my bad ones on 90 xj. 3in or 3.5 inches would do (want full leafs not AAL) RE or other would do. Located in Los Angeles.
My used xj has a budget lift and now I need to replace the worn rear leafs.
The shackle measures 6 Inches from center of bolt to center bolt.
I estimate that that should give me 1 1/2 inch lift above that of any spring combination I put in. Is that correct. (I calculated this by assuming the...
I need to replace my rear springs, on approx 4 inch lifted 90 xj, but I wouldn't mind a complete lift kit
drive train, SYE, drive shaft, and better rear axle with ARB or detroit locker to replace my stock dana 35, if someone wants to sell the whole setup.
