and if you want to put a hydro boost in on the cheap find one in a 92 or newer chevy astro van Ive got one in my 86 with an 8.8 with disc and running 33 I stop better than when it was stock
:party:well heres my 2 cents worth. Ive got an 86 that came with the 2.8. I swapped in a 92 vortek 4.3 with a 700R/231 combo. by far this was the easiest engine swap ive ever done. I used advance motor mounts wich perfectly placed the engine. astro van rad, s10 exhaust the wiring for the fuel...
I made one for the 207 that i had in mine i cut down that little extension housing and reamed it out using a honing stone wraped in emerry cloth. so a th350 tailhousing seal fit in it. than used a yoke from an 85 s10 rear axle
Ive got an 86 that that I put a 4.3 in its actually really easy. get the advance adaprors mtr mounts that taakes alot of the geuss work out than use an eng trans transfer out of an s10 the wiring for the tbi injection is easy or swap a cab on it find an 85 astro and they came with a factory 4...
 well I have an 85 with a 4 in lift 33" tires 4.10 gears running a 92 vortek 4.3 bored .40 700r trans and 231transfer. figuring with both the speedo and a gps Im averaging 20 mpg
mounts are dif main reason i did is stock eng to stock engine camparison not counting ls1 or lt1 very little is gained going to small block yet you gain more broblems tryiing to cool. the 4.3 was real easy its 200 hp stock was easy to cool tons of room to work on it, actually more rm than with...
well like I said I done this swap to mine and actually really easy. if you dont wanna mess with the fuel injection get an intake off an 85 astro van the were carbed and even came with a four barrel. I love my fuel injection tho:loveu:
as the proud owner of an 86 that had the 2.8. I went dif route anf swaped in a 92 chevy vortec 4.3 with an s10 trans and transfer case. eng is 50 lbs lighter than a 4.0 didnt have to use the hammer on any sheetmetel bolted right in with aa motor mounts wiring was easy to adapt since gm to gm...
next best thing to the sbc is a vortec 4.3 that what I put in mine was actually extremly easy. I used the advance mtr mounts. and eng trans and transfer out of a 92 s10 blazer stock s10 exhaust manifolds and head pipe that 2 1/2 flowmaster straight back. did a custom sye and used stock jeep fds...
well if you read my post I said look at the 85 astro van. they came with a carbed 4.3. and I also stated get a donor 88 or newer s10 for the parts If I need to break that down. eng, trans, transfer, wiring, fuel pump. and yes with the advance motor mounts using a donor s10 it does just drop in. I...
that is true for the 4.3 didnt come in the s/t trucks untill 88 and when introduced in them had tbi. excellent engine tho I love them and so does my jeep lol.
Ok first off a little clarification the 4.3 was offered with a carb even a 4 barrell from chevy. look at an 85 astro van or the manual for one. second ditch the 2.8 biggest garbage engine ever made. the 4.3 swap is easy find a totaled 88 or newer s10 use advance motor mounts and it drops right...
Well i thought I should add mine to the list since Ive been floating around here for a few months now. Its an 86 wagoneer limited I picked up for 200 bucks with the required rod hangin out the side of the 2.8. I yanked that and droped in a92 chevy vortec cpi 4.3 with 700 r tans and transfer out...
what I did for the same reasons was use a hone than wraped wet dry sand paper around it starting with 80 grit and worked to 160 worked awsesome and had all 4 wheel done in little over an hr
You will love the winch I was a mechanic in Iraq and we had those on all our humvee's and they never gave us any problem so after I got home and started to build my xj I got one. Im hooking mine up with a hydro booster brake booster also so My line routing wont do you any good. just be sure to...
Well I did say just about done. I need to cut off old mounts IM gonna trim the new ones a little. and Im working out the details on a skid extending off the lower arms past the mounts. But again like the title says long arm almost done. than again when is anything on a jeep really done.:us:
