still, I never had the problem in the past, and I shouldn't have it on mountain highway grades.
The only thing that changed was me putting my fuel tank skid on which pressed the fuel tank up against the under body of my jeep. Its possible that one of the two vent lines is slightly pinched...
FYI, It's an 89 XJ with a 4.0 fuel injected
I turned the key and fuel came out of the larger upper line, which is the one I originally had connected to the fuel filter. So I went ahead and put it back together the way it was.
any ideas on what could be causing my issue?
Symptoms:
stalled...
I was having a weird fuel problem where my engine would die on steep inclines going up, but not down.
A friend suggested that I might have my supply and return lines switched on my fuel pump.
looking in the hanes manual, the picture of the fuel pump has the 'outlet' line as the longer top...
one more question, do I need gas tank armor for this trail. I run 32's so I'm not high off the ground. I got a cover, but my jeep is old, and the bolt holes are now stripped out after having to replace the fuel pump a couple times. I'm a good driver, been in the rubicon a few times, and the...
is that the water crossing on the blue lakes side or the highway 4 side?
I went up the weekend before you guys from the blue lakes side, and an H1 came out saying it was impassable and washed out. I didn't make it that far because the snowburms got really big and I was by myself with 2...
Except you may notice that the block is blown out as well.
I thought about applying a think coat of JB weld, but I'm not sure if that's going to do it.
Flexing out a little in the yard
What my Engine looks like
I didn't get a knock or anything. it was running fine, then out of nowhere bam, clang, and some other bad sounds, and I was done.
I'm not sure what went. I think its a rod, but there is a gash going from the front driver side of the engine just above where the oil pan mounts going all the way down and up the other side of the oil pan. Oil and coolant together were pooring onto the side of the road. looks like the predator...
can you explain this further? is this in response to moving the exhaust or changing to a 300 Right side T-Case?
I would have thought things like the starter would be in the way of the front drive shaft. Also will a 300 bolt up to a Automatic Transmission?
It is an 8 lug chevy axle. I couldn't remember what it was and just guessed. My brother said that the rear is a 14 bolt corporate. I'm not sure what it is geared. it came off some sort of chevy one ton truck. His buddy bought a rolling chasis, for the motor, and sold my brother the axles. I'm...
My brother just got some 1 ton axles from a chevy. housing on the front is on the wrong side and he was looking into flipping it to put it on the driver side.
has anyone done that before? what is entailed in this endeavor?
I assume you have to cut the steering knuckles off and flip them...
I'm posting for my brother because he's pretty depressed right now. he got some free 410 gears for his ZJ. He installed the rear at a friends shop and left his old (355 I think) gears there and they got thrown away. He was doing the front in his driveway last weekend only to find that they...
I had a stock filter that runs to the front grill. the suction must have lifted the filter out of place and allowed the sand and water to get sucked into the engine.
I was asking myself the same question when I pulled the plugs. All I got to say is that these engines are tough. My buddy was...
If it makes it 10,000 miles on the rubicon trail, I think I'll have got a good life out of my jeep, but chances are I will break many other things before that happens.
my guess would be that the front hubs are locked which turns the axles which turns the drive shaft, even though no power is being applied to it. but that's just a guess.
you could put it up on blocks and test it to find out.
