    Rear axle bearings

Defenitely check your u-joint at the rear diff first. I like to unbolt the shaft, drop it down and pop the two caps off and inspect. I would not rule out a tire noise either. They take time to become noisey, but when they do they sound like a wheel bearing. Try rotating your tires front to back...

    jeep just quit

Take a fuel pressure reading at the rail with a gauge! You can't go any further till you know if you have fuel getting to the injectors and if it is enough pressure to open the injectors. You obviously have good power and ground to the pump because you hear it running. Don't worry too much about...

    smoking ?

One time my transmission was slightly overfilled by about a 1/2 quart and on a long road trip ( with ample cargo) it spit fluid out of the dipstick tube when the unit got hot (i.e. steep uphills or passing). It happened about three times on the 5 hour trip and smoked like a bitch for a minute...

If you have 3.73 gears you will be alright. Will taller gears be better, yes, but it won't be bad at all if you have 3.73's. Rubicon Express makes a great product but have become sooo TRENDY that there prices have gone through the roof!! I remember when they were in there early years, you...

Better yet, try to pull the #85 wire out of the ecu connector then with the ecu connector plugged back in and the ign switch on, take your resistance reads. Probing through the connector to hit the prong then have the other lead on the neg of the battery. This way the ECU is being commanded to...

Disconnect the connector to the ECU. Probe the prong on the ECU that the #85 wire plugs into with one end of your ohm meter. Then take the other end of the ohm meter and hold it to the negative battery terminal. What is your resistance?

You obviously have a resistance on your ground path. It can be in the wire itself, connectors, ground locations or ecu. Does that 85 wire ground through the ECU? I have opened up many an ECU to find water intrusion and corrosion. Try to take it apart and inspect the board. I don't have a...

do I need sye for a 3.5 RE

Had that lift a few years ago. I never had any vibes or strength issues and I wheel hard and frequently. I would drop the t-case first if you feel some vibes. Shimming the axle should be a last resort. The more you shim an axle the less oil the outer most pinion bearing gets. I run a 5.5"...

How do you like the rusty's lift? I just ordered some springs from them. Here is a local organization www.ec4wda.org . They have a Long Island chapter that goes on alot of out of town runs. They meet the first tues. of every month @ Papa Joe's pizza place in Deer Park if I remember correctly.

That is a caster issue. Set it to factory specs. A steering stabilzer won't make it go away, it will dampen it a little. How many miles are on the tires? Did they wear incorrectly? Have they started to chop up? Run your hand over the tread. Does it feel choppy or does it taper inward or...
