It wasn't hard but it was a little more exspensive than I expected. My XJ is a 2000. Some notes:
1) I did it in 2 parts.
1.1) First I rebuilt my transmission and added a shift kit. This was kind of the biggest reason I did this conversion. My trans was already starting to slip and needed love...
Your timing is good. It has been on Craigslist for a month and not a single nibble. This weekend I plan to pull the knuckles off to keep, pull all the nuts/bolts off for my magic bolt box, and put a free ad up on Craigslist for the rest of it. If you want it for shipping cost I can ship it to...
I just finished my 4WD conversion and have the front 2WD Beam, control arms, and spindles sitting in my garage. Are they worth anything or should I just scrap them?
(super straight, rust free, solid original ball joints, California XJ) Pics here but not sure if they are working
Super stoked! I got a complete front axle out of a 97 with 160k miles for $250. When I say complete, I mean axle nut to axle nut. they cut it out so all the hardware is there to put it in (along with hald of the control arms, sway bar links, shocks, etc). I hope to sell the brakes, unit...
Ha! Does that mean Wagoneers/Grand Wagoneers are not Jeeps? What about Gladiators (like the old J3000s and J4000s not the new Fiats)? What about a Cherokee Chief? I would argue a Wagoneer is more Jeep than a JK is...
I am about to refresh my front axle and want to put some new, long lasting ball joints in it. (2000, 4.0, axle is from a 1997)
I have used Mevotech ball joints on other cars of mine and have had good luck with them in the past. I used to use Moog problem solvers but the last 2 sets I have...
I only see the two pin 231 switch on rock auto.
Looking around, it looks like the NP242 transfer case switch connector is Delphi 12065298. Looking at pictures, that connector looks just like the one in the service manual. I found it here and ordered 3 of them (in case I mess one or two of them...
I have added an NP242 to my ex-2WD XJ and now I am trying to get the 4WD lights to work on my dash. Using this diagram from the service manual.
I opened up the connector behind the engine (C107), This one:
used this pinout:
On the truck side of this connector, I get 12v on pins 8 and 12. When...
Yeah, sorry folks. Work killed me this week so I am a little behind on responding. I have not bought it yet; it's on Craigslist near me. My XJ is in Idaho now so smog is not an issue anymore.
For those that can't see the picture (xcm was spot on), it looks like a factory rubber throttle body...
My dude (2000, 4.0, auto) is basically completely stock save for a cat back and soon a header and 4 hole injectors. Saw this intake pop up in craigslist for $30. Worth it or waste of money?
I am converting my 2000 to 4WD and have installed the NP242 but am having a helluva hard time finding the connector for the 4WD switch. I know I can go without it but really want to hook it up. Anyone have one along with as much wiring as you can spare? Shipping to 83709.
(edit) I need the...
That's what I am seeing (all made in China and India).
I am not totally convinced the front is sagged. My leafs are inverted though. Unloaded my rear is about 1/2" lower than the front. Maybe I will swap the rear and see how it looks.
Hm. I will keep your idea of adding an extra spring in my...
