couple notes...
- the term "misalignment" was used a lot concerning the video from metalcloak. to be clear, this is not the same as misalignment highlighted in hard joints/rod ends. notice those are measured in degrees, not inches. the "misalignment" highlighted in the video is the deflection...
correct, they work in a similar fashion. as the axle goes through its range of motion staying level, the arms arent fighting each other. but once articulated, one side is trying to drive the pinion down while the other is trying to push it up. the amplitude of this is based on geometry. but its...
i agree. the PTFE/teflon/delrin/what ever it is... ring in a johny joint does not allow for the same deflection that a true bushing does. barnes also offers threaded bushing link ends.
ive seen a couple trusses cracked and UCA mounts tearing from poor joint selection on a parallel 4 link and radius arm setup. poly/rubber at one end of each control arm is a must.
take your hands and make a peace sign. now point those peace signs away from you, parallel to each other. these are...
Wow… I had to look up winch rope prices. 5 years ago a smittybilt rope was $100. My recommendation is always going to be rope over cable. Far easier to work with, lighter, and safer under tension. That said, I would gamble on off brand dyneema. Thought I would not want a cheap hook on it.
pretty much on point...
consider most gen 3/4 LS stuff pretty much interchangeable. block and heads are all going to be pretty much the same envelope whether one wants to use a JY 4.8L or buys a crate LS3... the applicable differences might be oil pan and intake along with the motor mounts and...
I’m not familiar with the accessory drive setup needed to fit the XJ engine bay, but a lot of GM cars use the smaller TC pump rather than the giant truck P pump. The Colorado/h3/trailblazer/envoy and I think gen 4 trucks use TC pump in the same location as the gen 3 P pump. Just a slightly...
Can the AW4 even be adapted to an LS? I know Novak doesn’t offer products and seriously discourages it.
4L60 or 4L80 are the easy candidates. Typical 6 bolt round pattern, use what ever transfer case you like. If money is no object, I would suggest looking into the 6L80.
Manual options have...
LS, no question…
All that time and money into a clapped out tractor motor still running flat tappet lifters to HOPEFULLY make what even a run of the mill LM7 does out of the box? No thanks.
Horsepower per dollar, LS. Reliability at comparable power levels, LS. Weight, LS.
Boost a blingy...
From your original post it sounds like redhead does their remans the “right” way. I’d you’ve been happy with them in the past it sounds like you know the answer to your own question.
Have it drilled and taped for hydro assist. Cap it if you don’t intend to use it. Adds resale, and room to grow...
I’m personally cautious about remaned steering gears. Personally be burnt with multiple that have the same issue you are trying to fix. The problem with most is that they don’t actually replace they worm gear, just clean it and seal it back up. Sure, you can tighten down the cap to remove some...
