Sounds official. The motion has passed!
But let's have every one post here. No need for a new thread.
This, the voice of a pure spectator. I'll look at seeing you guys off from Lebanon. It'll be just one more day of rubbing my A/Ts into the pavement : (
I'm still trying to nail this down on my horizon, but with I-840 skirting Nashville eastbound, wouldn't a good rendezvous point be off I-40 near Lebanon? Even the Alabama guys could hook up with us there.
Heeding some good suggestions here, I got a BC (liquids/electrical) for the front cabin and left the larger ABC under the rear seat for back up.
I did get it mounted on the floor in front of the passenger seat, but why in the world can't I just drill holes in the floor? I thought it was just...
You're right, of course. I'm down with that, but I mostly have it there to put your rig out! Some others also helped me realize that if there are passengers, or stuff in the back, or the seat back down for cargo, then the location is useless.
I did jump out of the driver's seat and have it...
ha, I remember Bill Cosby doing a routine on driving a Shelby(not sure if that was a Cobra or a Mustang) "back in the day." he made a pretty funny deal out of the trepidation the presence of the fire extinguisher brought to him!
I guess I need to get one out in plain view to worry my passengers!
Agreed on the missile hazards. Anything mounted fore-aft without a significant stop block could shoot out in a collision breaking a foot. Or a noggin for that matter.
I've put a big ABC (10#) under the rear seat in place of the stock bottle jack (had to cut out the bracket and some carpet)...
Wow, what a blaze! I really appreciate the discussion. I can see I'm not finished with fire equipment, so I'll bump that other thread and carry on.
Really, really good feedback and very much appreciated!
True, it's not exactly "on board fire suppression." I figure if my my Jeep's:flame:
you've got me covered, and if your Jeep is :flame: - I can get my ten pounder PDQ and do my best for you.
It worried me putting it out of sight as much as letting it bang around in the back, so I stickered...
I want to thank every one who's contributed to this thread. I've moved my fire extinguisher under the seat in place of the stock bottle jack and will get some grade eight hardware to anchor the hi-lift tomorrow.
Lots of work to do, but thanks for the great ideas!
Looks like mine's off just over 6% which I understand translates to two teeth. The build sheet says the XJ was delivered with 225/75-15 so I'm thinking (?) it has a 34 tooth in it.
For whatever reason, the 32 is $54.99 at Quadratec (most of their others are $39.99), and Partsmike is $37.95...
I'll check that link, but for a hundred bucks the extended shift points are like "sport mode." I just keep trying to tell myself I'm not really getting 14 mpg!
Old thread, new prices. Using the table at the link above I called my local dealer with the part number for the drive gear: $92.34 USD plus tax
I'm trying to figure if the better shift points will justify the hundred bucks. The XJ is 96 4.0 4x4 ATX +3" on 31" ATs/8" Wrangler alloys...
