How much slop is too much in steering gear? (Dead spot)

I've done this, which led me to the steering box (the most slop seemed to be in the steering box output). I didn't feel any obvious slop in other components, including all the way up the steering column. I need to get back under there and repeat the test now to see if the reman box is any...

How much slop is too much in steering gear? (Dead spot)

Nope. I put in a rebuilt steering box, which helped some, but I still have a pretty significant dead spot that makes long highway drives a pain in the butt.

How much slop is too much in steering gear? (Dead spot)

I've settled in at about 2.5" of lift on my '95 XJ. I'm running a stock steering setup except for a Black Diamond adjustable track bar. Toe is about 0.25 degrees in, caster is about +6.5 degrees (adjustable LCAs). All ball joints and TREs have been recently replaced, as well as the steering...

FS: Roof Rack (Olympic TopHat Top Hat) in NM

For sale is my Olympic Top Hat roof rack. I've had it on the jeep for a few years and loved it, but I just got a TailBone for my spare tire and have decided I'd rather go for a lower profile. It has plenty of room for a spare and camping gear. I added an absolutely ugly wind shield for the...

    building an ar

Almost completely true. For NFA Title I stuff (most firearms), you can make them without any federal interaction. For NFA Title II stuff (silencers, short barrelled rifles/shotguns, destructive devices, Any Other Weapons), you can make them but have to pay the tax on a Form 4. Machine guns...

    WTB: Factory luggage rack cross-bars

I pitched mine a few years ago when I put on my gutter-mount rack, but now I'm switching back. I would be interested in buying a pair for my '95 if the price is right (shipped to residential address in 87544). Thanks! fiz

Stupid question: how to remove rear driveshaft....

Cool! It looks like they're no longer available, though.

Stupid question: how to remove rear driveshaft....

....without hemorrhaging transfer case fluid in my '95? I'm assuming that if I have to pull the rear shaft on the trail I'm going to dump a lot of T/C fluid. I have about 3" of lift on it with no vibe issues, so I haven't looked into an SYE. Is an SYE the only answer here? Thanks, fiz

    Alignment post lift

I have a Black Diamond (http://www.4wheelerssupply.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/1582). It has held up well for a few years.

After breaking a 1/2" breaker bar, I had to use a 24" pipe wrench from Lowes on mine:
