Thank you! Great info! There appears to be no port at the head in my XJ. I did order an additional tee to add the third unit (sender for gauge) at the thermostat housing. As of right now, I think this will be my quickest and cheapest option to get the fans running, get the PCM the data it needs...
I wish I could post pics | : I appreciate your help brother, but neither one of those descriptions match what I'm seeing under the hood. There is an actual 6 pin (not 8 with 2 unused) and a 4 pin (internally round in shape). The XJ is the bastard 96 model and supposedly the engine has been...
I'm planning to just leave the jumper wire installed until I can repair the damaged harness wiring on my XJ. Being that it is just a supplemental ground, I can't see any downside other than being able to start in gear; but I've never, not even once attempted or accidently attempted to start the...
When it is not starting (shifter in park or nuetral) and without touching the shifter, you can test for continuity (ground) at pin 10 or you can run a jumper wire from pin 10 (strip the end of some wire, insert wire into pin 10, install starter relay) and connect the other end of the jumper wire...
There is a 6 pin connector that should be NSS? The other connector is 4 pin and is round inside (where the pins/sockets install), any idea what this connector is? I searched AW4 connector and didn't see the same one described above. The XJ is the bastard 96 model that could be a mix of 95 (and...
One of the connectors with missing wire insulation does in fact go to the NSS, the other goes to the drivers side (I'm guessing to control the solenoids).
Damnit man..well, I took a closer look at the "bundle" of four connectors close to where that suspect butt crimp connection on the black with orange stripe ground wire is and man the insulation is totally gone on the wires going into two of those connectors (both appear to be heading down...
I'm trying to figure this out myself but am wanting 2 or 3 gauges (oil, water temp and volts if I can fit it cleanly). I wouldn't mind pillar mount if someone made a full replacement panel, not wanting to cut or put holes in the factory piece. I have found that the XJ aftermarket is very slim...
Adjust tire position on wheel and retest before adding weights? Makes sense, offset imbalance in the tire and wheel themselves as much as possible before adding weights to fine tune.
The NSS is still connected as far as I know, at least it appears so at the connector in the engine compartment (passenger side rear, near head. There are 3 or 4 connectors there in a "bundle" and all appear to be oil soaked. There is also a wire in that "bundle" that grounds to the passenger...
Alright, so doing some more digging..there are supposedly two coolant temp ports on some 4.0 XJ's (evidently depends on year, mine is a 96). One is at the thermostat housing and is the coolant temp sensor used by the PCM for data to control the engine; the other is at the back of the head on the...
Hi Anak,
I tried cycling the shifter many times and tried starting in both nuetral and park, including while pushing the shifter forward without success. Cold weather is not a factor for me, but certainly is something to consider for others in cold climates.
I think I am going to leave the...
