Re: What did you do to your XJ today?

On Labor day I decided to beat the crap out of my long-arm bushings and headed up Mary Ellen Gutlch (American Fork Canyon) at an aggressive pace. Made it up and back just fine but some how lost the knob off my Teraflex swaybar disconnect. It must have come off on the trail somewhere as I pounded my way up and back down the mountain. I only noticed it was gone when I reached under the fender in the dark to re-connect the swaybar for the drive home and got a handful of grease instead of finding the knob. I couldn't get it to reconnect without the knob either. DANG-IT!!!! Needless to say the ride home felt more like a swaying boat ride than a smooth road ride.

The view toward the top was great despite the overcast skies.

Re: What did you do to your XJ today?

Today, I replaced my clutch master cylinder. I picked up the correct part for my 1998 XJ, only to take it home and find it looks completely different than the one in the Jeep. I took it back to the store where they confirmed they had sold me the correct part. Come to find out, my current master cylinder fits a 1987 XJ. I then got to drive to a neighboring county to find one in stock. Gotta love owning somebody else's project!

Bleeding the clutch is awesome, mostly because I'm so fond of getting DOT-3 brake fluid in my armpit.

I'm making A HUGE push to get this thing trail worthy by Friday so I can take it to Moab. I haven't been down there with the family in my own Jeep in a very long time. I need to get a windshield, install a cat, install an o2 sensor, fix the passenger window, install generic Bushwhackers, and a host of other things. It's going to be tight!

What did you do to your XJ today?

Changed my brake pads and rotors. Been needing to for quite some time but with lower back issues and such I never drove my jeep nor could get myself to fix it. Glad I did as the pad material was gone and it was metal on metal lol

It was nice being able to do something again since my back has been a shamble but I felt it afterwards lol

Re: What did you do to your XJ today?

I hear ya. I had a lumbar discectomy in December and I'm finally starting to feel somewhat like my old self.

I illegally drove the Jeep around the block a few times today. It has a serious lack of power, like it's running lean. I'm thinking there is a fuel pressure issue. Also, after I parked it in the driveway it started puking coolant from somewhere around the radiator cap. I'm about ready to douse this dam XJ with gasoline and burn it to the ground...

Re: What did you do to your XJ today?

After buying a 2001 XJ from it's original owner on Wednesday, I ran some fuel system cleaner through it Friday and then replaced the battery and both terminals Saturday with my boy that just turned 16.

Seems awful quiet around here...

Put my son to work on about the 10th try getting pinion depth dialed in on the beefed up dana 30 on the red 2000 XJ. This one has 4.55's, 32's, lockers, armor, winch, compressor etc.

Went to the DMV and got a permanent registration plates for the green 96 XJ. This one will stay mostly stock and eventually be the boy's jeep. Waiting for the costco black friday sale to put a set of blizzaks on it

What did you do to your XJ today?

Started the tear down of the d44, was hoping it was my saving grace and be fine but the internals of the Elocker were trashed and both shaft had twisted splines. Gonna order the rebuild kit for the locker

Re: What did you do to your XJ today?

Is the 505 head the Brazilian casting? Any water in the oil? May be a cracked head, and good luck.
