Gotta friend of a friend who's 97 ZJ that when he turns it on it will start to shake and it seems like it is about to die, But when it warms up it runs like normal. Got any ideas on what can be the problem Sorry don't know what motor.

Motor would be helpful. If its the V8, most of the ones I've seen benefit from a good throttle body cleaning. When did it last have a tune up. PCV and O2 sensors come to mind. Any check engine lights, etc.?

It's the 4.0
ANd yes the check engine light is on.

Well, I think the first thing would be to get a reading for the check engine light. Also find out, does it smoke when it's shaking? A minor head gasket leak can make it shake when it starts, and so might a fuel injector that doesn't shut off properly and dribbles.
