wtb: speedo gear

I just got a 39 short shaft last week off ebay $30 shipped. I have same 33" and 4.56. Now speedo within 0.5-1mph of gps.

if anyone needs a long shaft 39t, i would be willing to trade for a long shaft 37t.

long shafts can be for electric speedos too. like mine and calixj's

gonna verify that tonight.. Kinda confused about that at the moment. Some sites say a long shaft is for cable driven and short is electric.. Mine in not a cable driven speedo. But yet its a 91.

60 something to 93=long
93 to 2006= short

i changed mine on my 91 and it is indeed long. also an electric speedo. some sites are just incorrect. 91-93 i believe were all long.

I heard it can be done with a heat gun?

Hans
the shaft is knurled where it is molded into the plastic gear, but i was able to press it out. heating up the shaft might help, but it will need to be hot enough to melt the plastic around the knurl. i used a little epoxy when pressing in the new shaft, there isnt much for strain on it so it'll be fine. the new shaft pressed in firmly enough as it was.
