I am looking for some axles for my 1989 Cherokee. I am looking for something bolt on. I am looking for something that is in good condition and can be put in asap. I'm not looking to spend a whole bunch of money cause of my low budget. My axle seals are leaking. Dont want to replace it, just figured I'd buy some new complete axles. Let me know what you got. Interested in upgraded axles, or dana 44's. Let me know what you got....

I have:
D35 open 3.07
8.25 29 spline open 3.55

You will need to swap over your e brake cables. PM me if interested in either of those.

Well I heard the axle seals are real hard to do. I have never taken aprt my diffs. I have no idea how to realign the carrier etc. Since I am planning to continue to build my Jeep I just figured that I would look for some different axles. I might be interested in the 8.25 dependong on how much you want for it. You guys tell me what you think, should i just change out the seals, or just get new axles???

you dont need to resetup the front diff, its aligned by shims under the bearings which are pressed on. i did a writeup on the front end here:

the rear end is easy as well, you need to open up the rear end and pull the axles out which is easy to do, but the carrier does not need to come out, the seals are at the ends of the axle tubes.

30 bucks in seals, a bottle of gear oil and silicone gasket maker for each end and you are good.

Of course a couple hrs and as much beer as everyone can drink it will get done.

Only one side is leaking, both axles have to come out in order to get the carrier out right?? Should i just replace both seals at the same time.

Thanks for the help guys, I think I'm getting to the point of being sick of the Cherokee..lol. If it isn't one thing its another. I originally took the axle out because of a bad u joint, then this happens, and lately I have been having an electrical problems with the light, maybe I just need to buy a different cherokee..lol..anyways guys thanks again!!

Wait a minute. Are you talking about the front axle? If so, then yes the shafts have to come out to pull the carrier out to change the seals. I think most here think you're talking about the rear since you mentioned a d44 in your first post.

Yes I am talking about the front axle!! The reason I was asking about a 44 was because I wanted to swap out axles anyways. I think for now, since my Jeep isn't getting any more mods real soon, I will just go ahead and do the axle seals. I just hate taking things apart cause it is my DD.
