Yeah, I want to change my LP D30 in my 2K cherokee for a need a non disco HP D30. Need it to match my TBG rear so I need 4:11 gearing too.

OK I will gear it myself so all I need is a HP D30 really. I was just hoping to get one with gear to make my life easier.

I have a free Hp30 Disconnect housing if you want to go the blockoff plate route.
just housing though

My skill are limited but increasing. :D I think I need one that is a little more straight forward off a new rig without the vacumn disco. :farmer:
Thank you though, I do appreciate the offer and keep me in mind if you run accross a non disc HP D30. :callme:

Sounds good but what would it take to put the perches back on and get it ready for an XJ?

cut off the perches and weld on some buckets. while you're at it might as well weld on heavy duty LCA brackets, truss and gussets. knock it all out all at once

Yeah I am going to take Jon's suggestion and weld on IRO knuckle gussets 40$; LCA skids - 0$ use misc spare steel; truss from housing to pass side uca; plate pass side uca; weld tubes to housing and consider sleeving the tubes as well (inner or outer)

I mean I might as well while it is out. I can learn to weld at the same time which seams to be something that I need to do.

that's the one thing I dont see the point to. knuckle gussets, I get it, truss, good idea you don't want that axle to smile at you some day. but the inner sleeves seem like a bit much.

Thank you. I don't know how I missed that as I went through all 4 pages.
Still looking for a non disco from a 97+ and this is from a '89 which means it has a vacuum disco I believe.

actually the larger 5-297 ujoints were standard in all xj D30's starting in 1995. and I don't think someone would be asking $150 for a disco D30. that one in reno is at least worth a follow up. snag it for $80 and swap out the shafts with 95+ and 760 ujoints with full circle clips. you need spares anyway

not sure why shafts are a big issue though. you have the 297 shafts in your current low pinion D30 you can just swap them into whatever axle you buy...

Yes, I do want to streighten the D30 while it is out because I don't want to be the guy that stops the parade on the trail because he took out a weak rig but since this is a DD it kind of lives on the fence between Mall Crawler and the Red POS.

44s and 60s have much bigger tubes, it doesn't hurt anything to sleeve the tubes in addition to a truss if you have the time to weld it up and an extra 100$ for the sleeve kit from poly performance
