Like the title says. I sent my HP Dana30 axle out to be geared and apparently the 4:88 ring gear won't fit the housing once installed on the carrier. I wasn't aware that their was a year break in carriers. I guess I need a carrier that had stock 3:73's or lower. This was news to be about the different options. I'm located in the North County SD area. Does anyone have one of these carriers around that they aren't using? They are only about $75 to buy online but figured I'd ask the group first. Thanks.

I have a loaded one with Spider gears (From a JK, but fits the ring gear exactly as the early XJ/TJ, just larger inners/spider gears) I will give you for 40$.

Thanks Robert. Do you know if that will fit 4:88's and go back in the carrier? I a little confused on this situation. I originally put 4:88's in my stock 96 Dana 30 with no issues and now it tried 2 different carriers and both won't fit in the housing with the new ring gear installed.

I am a bit lost too, AS to what your trying to explain...
If you have a Dana 30 with a 4.88 gear set then you Have to use a 3.73 and # Higher carrier.

This Full loaded carrier will fit any D30 with 3.73 and up ratio. It will not fit a early design Insert locker though. It would take a JK insert if you go that route. Due to the larger spider gear set inside it.

No such thing as a "thick" cut D30 gear set.

A JK pinion will not fit in a late model (XJ/TJ) D30.

The ring gear from a JK would fit on the carrier and likely the housing, but since you cant get the pinion in the housing (without special bearings and races that I am 99% sure he does not have by luck), Its likely not a JK gear set.
