The internals of the axle do not turn in the "reverse" direction. The spiral of the gears are "reverse cut" and still rotate in the same direction as any other solid front axle. The use of the phrase "reverse rotation" is just plain wrong and is like a plague that needs to be cured. Doesn't matter if a vendor uses that phrase on their site - it just denotes ignorance. Think about it - if the front axle actually did rotate in the reverse direction, where would you go? It would be turning opposite and fighting the rear axle in every gear.
That being said, the carrier does not care what direction the gears are cut. It does not affect the function of the carrier. For your application, all 3.92-up D44 carriers will work regardless of what axle type they came from (30-spline, of course). The same goes for other models, such as D30 & D60.
