I have a '99 limited and have been wanting to add a little more thump in he rear. going through my garage I found an old 6.5" 50watt RMS (200 watt peak) sub tube.

The question I have is how would I go about wiring it into my existing stereo? (infinty system) every wire I tap into seems as though the amp isn't giving enough power, the sub makes noise, but it's REAL faint (it's a 100watt system right?) what am i missing/ any suggestions?

thanks!

Stop hacking into the oem wires, your gonna burn somthing up- you would be changing the impedence on the speakers which could damage the speakers, the sub and the amp- and you could just have different channels crossed. But, for the sake of answering your question: often times when a speaker is really faint it either comes from reversed polarity on the speaker or you crossed channels and hooked two negitives or two positives to the sub, or a "+" from one channel and a "-" from another channel. Bottom line not good. Throw down the money for an aftermarket amp or leave it be.

i wasn't hooking up the speaker and sub on one cable, i was taking the leads from the speaker itself. (the rear deck speakers are useless in a XJ anyway) I'm confident that the factory infinty amp just plains sucks, and I need to add and or replace a REAL amp.

thanks for the help ;)
