This may be a dumb question but is their a way to get rid of small pits on your windshield? I read that you can use super glue somewhere but there's way too many and they're too small for that to be practical and not messy.

My mustang looks like someone shot a sand blaster at my windshield.

Thank you, too bad they don't have one for a buffer this could take a while with a drill.

The compound is called cerium oxide. You don't have to use a drill get a pad for your buffer and use the compound.

I have a 500$ deductible anything less would be retarded.

Thanks Mesh for the name!

OK, there are two kinds of damage to a windshield. One is pitting and is not normally covered under your insurance. The second is cracks, which is normally covered by comprehensive. Insurance will normally pay for fixing the starburst cracks for free, but pitting is not covered.

Buffing with Cerium Oxide can take out some pits, which is what the OP was asking about. You have to be carefull about two things. As you remove the glass down to the point where the pits are gone, you tend to introduce serious visual distortion. The second is that using the compound down that far generates localized heat and many times you will cause the windshield to crack. So it you are buffing, keep the rpms down and don't stay in one spot very long. It is a long and tedious process.

Since I have glass coverage I usually buff my windshields by following a gravel truck.
