I need to lengthen and balance the front drive shaft on my '98 XJ. Does anyone know of a shop in Columbia, SC that can do this.

A local machine shop directed me to Fleet Pride. Is there anyone else?

What is a fair price for this service?

Thanks

If you have a "FleetPride" in your area they can do it. The one in Roanoke does a great job both at balancing and lengthening. Balance is around $60 and lengthen is around $80. The Roanoke shop has a laser balancer.

I had 2 bad experiences with the fleet-pride in Raleigh. I would suggest sending the shaft to The Driveshaft Shop in Salsbury? NC. They have done great work for me.

does that place .. waterlee offroad off of 20 do it?

They do it. I had a DS built there years ago and they did a good job. Why do you need it lengthened and how much?

Not to my knowledge.

I'm not sure how much it needs to be lengthened yet. When I purchased my XJ it already had 7.5" of lift. The previous owner installed a SYE and high dollar rear drive shaft, but the front drive shaft appears to be stock. This causes quite a bit of vibration at practically any speed over 20mph, and has gotten worse after a couple of long trips down the interstate.

What engine/transmission combo?

Talk to Fred at Fleetpride, they're off shop rd, accross from the dmv. Great prices and does excellent work. He built the two driveshafts for my yj, and the rear for my xj.
