Who has a WK?

My Dad needs to dump his MDX because it is seriously on its last leg and if we wait it may get to a point where he really can't get a thing for it. He has looked at getting a slightly newer MDX with less miles but they still go for close to $20,000 which he can't really afford right now. So then he asked me a question I have been praying for "how about a Jeep?" My heart almost stopped haha But really I was excited for him to think about getting a Jeep. We decided we want to look for a 2006-2007 WK.

-He wants something he can tow with but get good enough mileage close to what he has been used to with the MDX.

-He wants something with a nice interior leather, etc.

-We also need to know how reliable they are after 100,000 miles and what are common repairs that need to be made?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

How is an MDX on its last leg? They've only been out for a few years? Its a Chrysler, you'll definitely want to take good care of the trans. Keep it cool and if you'll be towing make sure it has a trans cooler. As for mileage, I don't see it getting as good as an MDX but its not terrible. My XJ gets worse mileage than a hemi WK.

My Dad did not take very good care of it until recently but by then it was too late. Honda/Acura cars with V6s are actually notorious for having transmission trouble especially the MDX. That fact that my dad has 240,000 miles on the original is a miracle especially considering the way he has treated it. But since he hasn't been able to trade out his cars like he used to since he hasn't been able to afford to since the economy took a dump (he is a former home builder) he has had to learn to keep up with maintenance better. But the car needs about $3000 worth of work done to it and he said he would rather trade it out before it becomes completely worthless. The body is pretty dinged up too so he just wants to get rid of it and wash his hands of it an start fresh, well fresher haha. An MDX a few years newer with less miles still is around $20,000 but some thing equal to that in a WK is closer to $15,000 which is his price range. And now since I have educated him on how to properly take care of his vehicles and he sees the value in doing so I can be confident that a WK would be a good fit for him as long as they don't have any major trouble points even with good maintenance.
