i'm going to need a 30 and toy 8" regeared. where is a good place to have them done. i'm in fort collins, and i'm willing to drive down as far as around denver.

thx

I think there was a thread on this forum a couple of months back about this exact topic. Several people were recommended as well as a couple of businesses. One I think was a NAXJA Sponsor. I think they are called formattfab. I keep getting their name mixed up.

How did the paint match. Did you take some 2000 grit and color sand the edges and then compound it?

Sorry Fuel90, I don't do gears.. Tom always gets that mixed up.

I am a NAXJA sponsor but I deal mostly with steel and CO2 tanks.

If you're willing to drive down to Denver, I highly recommend talking to Joshua at Crawlertech 4x4. He used to take care of them at Wild West Offroad before the owners seperated and went their own ways. He's really busy right now but only because he's good at what he does.

thanks again for the paint Tom. i haven't done anything yet, but when i cleaned it all up, it brought tears to my eye it was so nice.

As for gear shops, i haven't contacted crawlertech yet, but i did speak with ORI and TNTcustoms. so far ori is cheaper, but farther to drive. i'm going to call a couple of places to get pricing still. has anyone had any experience with Rock 'N Rods?

As they say - You get what you pay for... Just keep this in mind... I'm sure some of the other's will chime in with recomendations... And as mentioned above, check out some previous threads regarding this...

I know the guy at ORI cenennial that does the gears ... Just because it is cheaper does not mean it's not top quality work. ORI is a new shop and trying to get their name out for quality work for less money for those wheelers that need good work done at a reasonable price,

If you don't want to drive to Denver
try
Bullhide 4x4 - immediately south of the nissan dealer (giant USA flag) on college/287, speak to Ray Schleppy. Tell him Grant sent you
Not sure if Jon Jacobs is doing gears, he is on this board occassionally as JJacobs, try PM'ing him
I'd offer to do it for you but I cannot take any more work until mid - late Oct. Just too busy.

Never said that saving money was bad... Just that gears aren't a thing you want to do over, and therefore you shouldn't trust just anyone...

Sounds like ORI has the right idea, and a good value...
