Where to buy new rear leaf springs?

Why stock ??? If you want to stay at roughly the same height then purchase a set of Old Man Emu leaf springs. The ride nicer than stock ones. Talk to BONES who ran OME springs for a while.

J.C. Whitney has good prices on stock springs, and although I haven't bought them others have posted that they are good quality.

IMHO the best place to buy stock springs is a dealer. I'd order Up Country springs for the slight increase in rate and ride height. Prices are actually competitive with most aftermarket vendors.

OMEs are good, but they are not stock height -- they are approximately a 1-3/4" lift for their "small" springs, and more for the others. Or have I missed something?

Just got back from the local spring shop. I went to buy center bolts and leaf clips, but while there I asked about both new springs, and re-arching old springs. What a surprise!

The guy said re-arching old springs isn't worth it. Not because it won't work, but because of the cost. His shop starts with a flat fee of $55 to take the spring apart. After that, the labor is charged at $77/hour. He said typically it runs about $175 to re-arch a leaf spring, and they sell them new for $130. He told me one guy had a foreign car that they couldn't get new ones for, and it cost him $300 PER SPRING to have the re-arched.

He also showed me their book, which says that there could be any of 12 different OEM springs in a Cherokee. They carry six -- two are lower spring rate, four are heavy duty, all with the same 745 pound total capacity but with different initial arch dimensions. Unfortunately, his book does not list the spring rate by pounds-per-inch, only the total capacity.

I put on the standard load OME springs on my 87 and ran the stock shocks for a long time with great results. Much improved ride. I'm sure it would ride even better with the proper OME shocks.

Thanks folks. Basically the reason I'm going with new ones is because the 1 1/2 shackle we just had installed (rocky road outfitters 2 inch budget lift) flatten out the stock 4 leaf, leaf spring. I figure it's just a matter of time before they start sagging, so we might as well replace them now. I talked to my mechanic later yesterday and he found a souce and quoted me a price of $119 (per spring) for heavy duty leaf springs. He doesn't think we'll need the half-inch spacer that was included in the lfit kit once they are installed. Thanks for the info.
