Just wanted to hear from someone who has been to any of these places. I want to go out west this august and check out some of our beautiful country(ok told wife that) I want to do some light wheeling, mainly scenic off roading. I be to far from home to have something break.Maybe some hiking...etc.. Leaving the 2 year old with inlaws.I have never been to either state. Any recommendations??
will be taking my wifes stock XJ so nothing to wild. Thanks in advance

Way too much to even mention in those states!!!!!!!! how about you give us your route you are planning to take and I will be happy to make a few suggestions of side tours

thanks for the reply.. that is just it. I do not know where i want to go? Only have a week off, so i have to put into count my driving time. I have been on the internet looking, snake river area , hells canyonin idaho. around T or C in New Mexico....

For a great source for pics and write-ups of Colorado trails, check out www.traildamage.com

There's usually maps to the trails, a fairly accurate rating of the difficulty of the trails, and other useful information for planning a trip included in each link.

From the home page, click on the "trails" link in the top header graphic. There's links to Arizona, Colorado and Utah trails there.

Good luck!

if you only have a week concentrate on one state! Like colorado Its closer! There is so much there it woud take you a month to do half of it. If you wish to do all three you will only have time to sleep and pee the rest will be driving!

I was planning on one state. I think it will be Colorado.. Still looking at the website YELLAHEEP put up! AWESOME !Growing up in florida so flat. Than moving here to ohio and few years back i thought i had seen mountains. Now i know i am definitely missing out.....I am trying to think of a couple to join us....I would even let them drive my Lifted XJ out ..lol

Ya know, if you let us know what places you're gonna visit, there's probably a couple of Colorado guys that'd be willing to meet you - so that you don't have to 'wheel alone........ Just a thought! :laugh3:

I get that about AZ too, flat desert. LOL in 30 miles of highway I go from 1000 ft to 7000 altitude!

well i think it will be Colorado. Thinking of staying in Denver? Is that close to alot of the trails.( in know Co. full of them). Yeah, I would like to met some others out there. I was looking on traildamage.com and there was a few really hairy trails, some even cautioned about certain death. You should have seen the look on my wife's face! I told her, we wont do anything to hairy, after all we are in a stock XJ.(unless it develops a no start problem and we have to take my 2door with 31's and lift...lol

Boy, are you in the wrong forum. Asking a CO guy about wheeling oppurtunities is like asking a priest for dating advice.

CRASH

We wheel plenty-we just dont make a big production out of it when we do.As far as BOTW goes, sorry if our schedules & budgets dont usually match up with those of you left-coasters.My participation for BOTW was bustin' knuckles helping Led get his rig ready so that at least one of us could attend.I know all this "Colorado people dont wheel" BS is all in good fun but it sure is getting old.
Think what you want about us.We'll just keep on quietly wheeling our awesome trails in some of the best scenery in the country.Feel free to join us any time.

Yes, you can get to quite a few. For stocker, I'd consider checking out Georgia Pass, start from the 285 side (Jefferson I think) and you will drop down in Breckenridge, wife can shop a little, head back on 70 to Denver. It will be a good day.

Kingstons Peak is great, and you can hit that from I-70. Perfect for a stocker.

eh, 2 suggestions for you.

thanks for the replies. It will be a stocker trip this time out. I just put my 2Door up for sale.If denver is too far from a lot of the milder trails, where do you suggest to stay.
