What's your dream hauler?

If your like me, you tend to day dream about what the ultimate truck capable of hauling all your junk in comfort would be like. I recently had the opportunity to see my dream in person when one of these bad boy's rolled into our shop. I wasn't able to take any first hand pics, but this is what rolled up...

The "Siberian" by Tiger Adventure Vehicles. They take a brand new Ford F450 chassis cab (you can choose to have a dodge or chevy as well), and fabricate an all aluminum rear camper assembly. Not only was the quality amazing, but I couldn't beleive how much room it had while still being smaller than a typical in-bed camper. The construction, fit and finish was amazing... and then I heard the price tag: Base price of $175,000! :scared:
So it will remain a dream for now, but holy crap is it a nice mobile home.

What's your dream hauler?

Jeep J20, 14 bolt rear, 60 front, 6BT, NV5600, and a trailer of some sort.

I figure I could probably put that together for 10-15k without too much sweat.

Or the other one I already bought and still haven't fixed... M54A2, loading ramps, 46" military surplus HEMTT tires and either HEMTT wheels or FMTV wheels. Maybe throw a T1138 transfer in it if I can get one cheap enough.

Damn that's nice, but not "$175K nice". More practical to get a $50K F-450 + $20K Lance and save yourself $105K for other toys. But since we're dreaming...

I actually live 20 minutes from earthroamer's shop. We have also had one of their rigs in our shop, and I honestly wasn't as impressed as I was with the Siberian.

And if you think 175K is expensive...

EarthRoamer Xpedition Vehicles are sold factory direct and are custom built to order. Typical prices for a completed 2013 model year EarthRoamer XV-LT range from around $260,000 – $400,000, XV-LTS prices range from around $295,000 – $450,000 and XV-LTSS prices range from around $336,000 – $500,000 depending on options.

I can't even imagine driving something that expensive offroad.

Dream hauler? Money is no object?

MDT or HDT with a sleeper and a roll back bed installed, towing a travel trailer.

Just as with the government, $ is no object and our heads are in the clouds. Do you have any pics of something similar to what your dreaming? I honestly have no idea what a MDT or HDT is. :wierd:

That thing is badass, but also ginormous. I'm a fan of the smaller but still capable rigs. Something like that would be impossible to drive off the highways here.

Mog converted radio box, and stetched frame to carry one jeep on the back

Mogs are sick.

Not exactly small, but one of these 8x8s would be sweet...

Or maybe one of these...

I think the Sportsmobile 4x4 is about as good as it gets. I'd go with the diesel. http://www.sportsmobile.com/4_4x4sports.html

Something a little more realistic for me is an Xterra 4x4 with the supercharger & a slightly-lifted teardrop trailer towed behind it.

In real life, though, we take my girlfriend's @#$ Corrolla everywhere because it's cheaper than driving my Jeep.

MDT = Medium Duty Truck, aka GMC Topkick or F750.
HDT = Heavy Duty Truck, aka Peterbilt or Freightliner.

No pics, I've been thinking about it for a few years, and someone has to have done it.

It's not as big as you think. It's tons shorter than any of those 8x8's you just posted. It's not really any longer than a crewcab pickup truck and the dump bed that came off the chassis. I don't think he even lengthened the chassis.

I'm building your dream rig in the spring ;)
uhaul+12ft ambulance box+flatbed. It's like a class c camper and rollback all in one.

no 4wd though :(

Oh I'm sure. There is no way in hell that 8x8 or any of the other military rigs I posted are any where near practicle for what I would do. They are just freakin cool as hell is all.

In reality, I don't know if I could get away with anything bigger than a 1 ton rig similar to the first one I posted. My more realistic plans are to score a cummins powered chassis cab and fabricate something similar.
