What tires do you recomend?

I have to get new tires soon and don't really want to spend the coin on an expensive brand. I have used kumhos on my car and truck and liked them alot but they were only all seasons I was wondering if anyone has ever used there off road tires.

Open to other ideas as well right now i have bfg all terrains I like them but they don't balance very well.

Im looking for 33's 12.50 - 10.50 not too picky on width. I do want to go with an 8 inch wide rim though.

I run 31x11.50x15 LTB Super Swampers. Dont care about the wear and I dont care about the balancing, but they wear pretty good and the guy that balanced them was very patient. I drive my jeep to and from work and wheel on Ft. Benning (in the winter and when it rains in the summer, other than that I ride my Harley). I like how they look, wheel, and the price. They hum a little bit on the pavement. My jeep is not the everywhere daily driver. It sees 44 miles a day and that is about it. I went with what I wanted because if you are unhappy with your tires youll be unhappy with your jeeps performance. Recomend? Depends on what you want in a tire.

you want good wear and mud tire? look at the BFG KM2's.
You want good grip and mud tire? look at a Maxxis Bighorn
you want good wear and all terrain? Look at Toyo Open Country
you want good grip in mud and bad road manners? Swamper LTB.

Check out the Good year duratrac. Aggressive AT. Supposedly has the same carcass as the MTR/kevlar tire BUT they run $40-50 less per tire. I've spoken to a few folks here in FL who like them a lot.

I currently have the Wally-world specials GY Authorities on my CJ-5 and so far I've been very pleased with them. (they don't come in 33's for a 15" rim though).

I would suggest Trxus MT's BUT they have become no less $$ than the others. used to be cheaper but just as good or better.

Another option is procomp AT's. Check 4wheel parts for their buy 3 get one free deals on procomp tires.

I have Kuhmo Venture MT's now and they are really good. I had Mud King MT's before and they were good also. And cheap.

Not quite cheap, but I have had good luck with Cooper STTs. I have been running mine for around 20k miles and they still have what looks like over 50% tread. I don't know whether they will get another 20k useful miles (still good offroad), but they wear well for a mud tire.

I am going to be running 33x10.50 BF Goodrich KM2's on my new rig, I am also going with a 15x8 rim and mine came fully mounted to the rims since I bought the wheels and tires at the same time. The KM's look awesome, just my .02

I have 33s Maxxis Bighorn. If you are going to the Flats this weekend or can wait for the Charlotte area meet and greet, you can drive my Jeep with them.

I'm putting another vote for the Bighorns. They have good road manners as well. I will be getting another set here shortly.

Coopers have served me well in the past (and once again as of September) but the STT's are probably not the best choice for a primarily street driver. The ST's (I think that's the style) are a far better AT version for the streets.

You may, also look into the Pep Boys brand Dakota Definity line. They're made for Pep by Cooper and the MT series is doing fairly well on the D.D. right now-- only two months old, so no point of reference for durability yet, though.

I have a set of the Dakota Definity MTs(32X10.5-16) on mine now and my buddy had them on his yota for a year or so b4 i got them and they have 40% tread left.I also had a set of their ATs on my Tracker (33X12.5-15) I would recommend them to anyone for the price you cant beat them.My only problem was with the ATs tread being pretty soft and were cut very easily.

I would recommend BFG KM2s. They do great off road and wear/drive great on road. I have them in a 35x12.50 flavor on my daily driven truck. So far, they have 30,000 on them and they are do really well. I should hit the 50,000 mark pretty easily.

The KM2's look like they have much tighter voids than the old BFG MTs. Can anybody who's used both in mud comment on the relative performance?

I ran the Cooper STT for a few years but it was not daily driven. I love them. Great tire for the money IMHO! I ran teh ATR Coopers on my tow rig and got great milage out of them and they rode great.

They aren't any tighter than the old BFG, I have a set of both styles actually. I had the old style ones on the Willys before I got the 38s. The KM2s do pretty darn good in the mud, but they really shine in the rocks. They are like glue! I have never been stuck in mud with them, but they aren't swampers by any means.

KM2's suck in snow.. i was slipping everywhere at windrock last winter..
Mud they seem to do ok.. if you re into mud.. get a Swamper..
Like tyler said.. KM2's excel in rocky terrain. When new they re rounded.. but as you drive them on the road they flatten out so when you air them down you get a fat surface to ride on..

I ve heard some good stuff about the STT's.. look like the toyo mud country..

Toyo's are good tires as well.
I had Super Swamper TSL Radials when i lived in FL.. they were really nice there. the mud was sandy but the Three Stage Lugs were really nice to have.
