Subject vehicle is my DD, '94 Escort, 1.9L with @ 170K miles on it. Going down the road one day and dropped a cylinder....limped it home and did a compression test and got 0 on #4 cylinder. Finally got around to pulling the head this past weekend to diagnose and here's what I found. About 2/3 of the intake valve seat broke off into the cylinder and got banged around:shocked: (surprised I didn't hear it). New (junkyard) head is now at the shop getting cleaned up to install as we speak.
Thought y'all would enjoy some carnage pics......notice the lack of valve seat from about 2 o'clock to about 11 o'clock:sad1:
