Ok, i'm trying to ship a d30/d44 I'm guessin' on the heavy side w/ crated up they weight around 400lbs. I'm lookin' for a carrier that woudl be the cheapest to send from NC to FL. I've heard about FowardAir, but they are terminal to terminal and 1hr1/2 away. I've tried USP, FedEx, DHL...just wonder if their are other options out their that might be cheaper for doing large frieght.

I refuse to use UPS....their rates are usually rediculously high, they have very stringent packing procedures, make you leave your package open for inspection before you drop it off, and their customer service is generally very rude. Fed-Ex would probably be your best bet for door to door service without using a local carrier or freight line.

Any way you go, its not going to be cheap to ship a 400 pound package!!

I shipped a set of dana 60's cross country for like $400 early this year. For that price, the driver went to the site they were at (sitting next to a truck in a field on a farm), pallet'd them, and delivered them to my office directly to the bed of my pickup. I'm told they dont palett anymore, but they will ship loose if you cant get them on a pallet.

I've had a 44 shipped from FL to NC using American Freightways ($55.00 in '00) and recently a 60 from OH to NC using USF/Holland for $85.00.

Both were strapped onto a standard pallet... it would likely be more if the shipper packed it for you.
