So my neighbor with the TJ is rounding up people to go to Wellsville for the first weekend in June.
Since it will be a good time to try out my new locker I told him I would go. Right now the group is his stock TJ on 30's, his friends XJ on 32's (I think) and me, on 31's. He's been to Welsville a few times and know his way around, and has a camping spot picked out that can accomodate a fairly large group.
Who's in?

Josh says it's anything from stocker trails to insane buggy climbs.

A buddy with a stock Tacoma (TRD offroad package) and I are going that same weekend. I'll be in a white, '99 with a BB. How'd he get a campsite already? Everywhere I've called has said no reservations in the summer for a single site.
EDIT: It just occurred to me--are you camping INSIDE Wellsville (the trail area, not the city)?

Man.... That's the weekend of BOTMW. I'll be in MO with xj4life and the rest of those crazy bastard's with the big rigs. Too bad, this sounds like a run I could actually wheel with some people on. (with my open diffs)

Just to let you guys know, that is the same weekend of the 4wd.com M&G for their message board. We have over 160 people signed up to be wheeling in Wellsville that weekend. Trails might be VERY crowded! as of right now we will have atlest 7 groups, covering everything from stock trails all the way up the wild and crazy stuff, and their could be more groups added.

Just thought I'd give ya a heads up.

thanks ralph, we might try and move to the next weeked then. That sounds like an insane amount of people.
As to the camping, I don't know, I've not gotten the details, I will NOT be camping, I have family that lives very close, and Grandma's cooking beats hanging out with you losers ;)

Has any one checked the conditions out there? With all this rain I'm alittle concerned about it being a swamp and getting super rutted up. Will us little guys be able to do much if its really muddy or will just get in the way of the big boys? My truk is my daily driver and i'm not to excited about sliding sideways down a hill into a bunch of trucks. Any feed back would be appreciated as we're trying to decide if this is the best weekend for us to come down for the first time.

I was there last weekend, it was SLOPPY, but it was fun.

I would say avoid Wellsville this weekend, there is a big event going on, we have 160+ registered Jeeps splitting up into atlest 10 groups from Friday-Sunday!!! I would say plan it for a diffrent weekend, just because you dont want to get stuck behind one of our groups and no get to cover any ground!

If you do you come out, and you see a Black XJ with BRIGHT green trim on 35s leading a group of stockers around, stop and say Hi! If you do descide to come a diffrent weekend, I'd be happy to show the trails and show ya some of the stuff out there!!

Thanks for the info. Have you ever been wheelin' in Michigan? We are from Toledo and we freed this weekend up months ago to go truckin'. So if you have any experience with any trails within a 4 hour trip of Toledo I would love to get some input on an alternative to wellsville.

I'm originally from the Bowling Green area, but I've never been wheeling in Michigan. I didn't start wheeling till I moved to PGH! Wellsville is about the closest good wheeling to ya. The badlands in Indiana aren't too much farther but I have only been there in my car for the NEUROC event last summer, never had the XJ there.

Any weekend I'm free, if you want to come out to Wellsville, I know the trails very well!!

My last two posts were actually from my buddy with the Tacoma. We've decided to go to Michigan on Saturday and reschedule our Wellsville trip for some time in August. Thanks, RalphXJ, for the info. and heads-ups on next weekend. Much appreciated.
EDIT: I'll be sure to remember to contact you when we do come down. Any chance you have access to GPS coordinates of the various trails down there? I've been searching for about two years, and I've only found ones for the various entrances.
