Water on top of bump stop

97 Sport....I pulled my passenger-side bump stop the other day and a lot of water poured out. I had no such experience on the driver side. Not a huge deal, but kind of concerning.

Any idea how so much water could find its way onto the top of that bumpstop, and how to prevent it?
