Yes, I am fully aware I am probably posting this in the wrong place, but I figured I haven't been here in a while, and what the hell right?
A week before our 4x4 Toys for Tots parade in Chicago is the biker parade on Dec 4th. GLJT has been trying to get some of the 4x4 guys together to help roadblock for the biker parade. It starts at the Dan Ryan woods, and follows western all the way up to Foster. That's a lot of intersections that can be filled up.
Working conditions for this are not great, and this is not by any means easy to do. It's cold, people get pissed off, they'll yell at you, standing for long periods of time, drivers may even try to run you over. This is not a job for those with a weak constitution.
The cause is worth it (it's easy to avoid the road ragers!), you'll get to see some really nice bikes, and for the most part the bikers are great people who love to show thier appreciation for those that volunteer. If you're interested the guys to contact are at gljt.org. OOC, and JeepDiver.
Here is a little album from last year. It has a slideshow feature for faster viewing.
