The First Annual Virginia Tech Memorial Trail Ride will be held on July 26th and 27th, 2008 and will be hosted by the Sinking Creek 4-Wheel Drive Association (SC4WDA).

Big Dogs Offroad, located in Winchester, Virginia, has graciously offered to house this year’s event. Registration for the VTMTR is $65 per rig. This registration includes one ticket for a raffle. A portion of this fee is a donation to the following benefactors: Virginia Tech Rescue Squad; Blacksburg Volunteer Rescue Squad; Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department. These rescue organizations were first responders to the tragedy that occurred on April 16, 2007 at the Virginia Tech campus. All profits from this event, in addition to a portion of the registration fee, will be donated to the aforementioned benefactors. Neither SC4WDA nor Big Dogs will make any profit from this event.

The following events will be held throughout the course of the weekend; Raffle, Mud Bog, Show and Shine. The vendor list for the raffle will be updated via Sinking Creek’s public VTMTR Forum.

SC4WDA is a technically oriented off-highway driving club, located in Blacksburg, Virginia, which prides itself in community involvement. Our member base includes, but is not limited to, students of Virginia Tech and surrounding colleges and schools, and non-students. All club members have close ties to not only the Virginia Tech community, but also the Blacksburg and 4-Wheel drive communities.

I am hoping to make it, but I don't know if my Jeep can come :dunno: I am hoping to have time/funds to swap the axles and rebuild my suspension once it gets warmer. However, If it's not done, I will may ride with a friend.
It should be a great ride for a great cause!

I would love to go, heck I have a son at VT(Jr in buisness school) and one of his friends and high school classmates was shot and survived the shooting while doing some heroic things. I will have to wait and see as time gets closer. Maybe my boy will bring his XJ up and we will spend the weekend wheelin together.

Advanced Adapters is on board with us!!!!

Can't wait to see you all out there!!

Hey guys,
I am currently a student at Tech and really appreciate what you are doing to remember us. I am planning on being in Blacksburg all summer and would love to take this trip, my only concern is that my XJ is quite stock and, being as I am the proverbial poor college student, I really haven't the funds to give it a whole lot of what it needs any time soon. My question is whether you guys have a trail picked out yet and if so, could a stock XJ make it? As I said, I would really like to take the ride with you guys and even if my jeep can't make it, I would still like to know how the event goes and help out with any logistics that I can.

Sincerely appreciative,

Ecgtech

I think they are going to have some "stock friendly" trails. You will be amazed at how far it will go stock. I'll get Terry to post back and confirm.

Edit; Here is a little more info from our local forum. http://www.teamtrailblazer.com/showthread.php?t=1662

I may go, it just depends on what my work schedule is like.

I was just there in april and we ran trails that a stock xj could handle, it was pretty much stock Tjs. Why we ran these you ask, well a guy in our group was the guide and he took his group on trails that neighbored the harder obstacles

Anyway you will be fine they have stock class trails

as for me I hope to be able to get off work to go
