Hey guys,
I know the engine build code is stamped on the pass side of the block, but is the actual VIN# on the engine anywhere?
Also, if the first # in the engine build code is a "6" (which means it was built in 1996) how do you know it wasn't built in 2006?
Does the year code actually say "06" instead of "6"?
I'm looking at a salvage motor to replace this POS 4.0 with a cracked head.
It looks like I can swap any newer 4.0 in there, but will need to transfer all the stuff from the 2000 motor to the newer one.
I'm looking at a low mileage 4.0 from a 2005 TJ...
Thanks!
Dirk
